    My father’s grandmother, my great-grandmother, was (openly) a doctor in Germany. Since I’m 63, it’s easy to see that’s quite a number of years in the past. And she obviously had kids, since my dad was born and I’m here! Maybe people had sense enough to realize that a doctor is a doctor when you need one…who cares what gender. Or knowing my family in general, if someone had commented disparagingly about her being a female, she might have caused a situation where they REALLY needed a doctor after they said that! :-D
