Most of the colorful leaves like gum are already fallen by the time our red oaks go scarlet. Then there are the green of live oaks and redcedar to liven the reds and yellows. Warming climate has dampened the colors somewhat, but depending on rainfall, we still have autumnal colors in the “counties along the Red River” as the Dallas meteorologists refer to us.

I lived in Texas and LOVED it… but missed fall so much. The color of the leaves is spectacular and I do love winter. (Yeah, I am weird.)

Tamarack, aka Larch, is a deciduous fir that changes color in the fall and drops its needles.

Tell me about it. Nothing but Evergreens up here in the NW unless you count the East Coast trees that invaded us before the Californians did.
