Early on Oct. 2, several websites highlighted an incorrect suspect’s allegiance to liberal social media groups. The sites later deleted those posts.
The website Daily Dot posted a screenshot of a deleted post at the site Gateway Pundit that was headlined, “Las Vegas Shooter Reportedly a Democrat Who Liked Rachel Maddow, MoveOn.org and Associated with Anti-Trump Army.” It soon became clear that the man in question shared a last name with a person of interest in the case, but was not the shooter.
Similarly, the website Puppet String News posted a story headlined, “Shooter in Las Vegas Loves Anti-Trump Facebook Pages and Obama’s OFA.” The post was among several that were flagged by Facebook as potentially questionable — part of an effort to fight fake news that includes PolitiFact and other partners. However, by the time we looked into it, the post had been taken down.
Puppet String News was also involved in spreading fake news following the vehicular attack against marchers in Charlottesville, Va., this summer.
(It looks like the only puppet strings being pulled are those of Right Wingers…)
This.. was just collateral damage that is inevitable given the gun culture in the US of A. The price your representatives are obviously willing to pay for your “freedom” so stop with the hand wringing and false outrage.
These are white male terrorists. To solve a problem, you have to be able to state what the problem is, or at least say the name. The Republicans should have noticed the white male terrorism. We need to be smart, vigilant and tough. we need the courts to give us back our rights. We need Gun Bans as an extra level of safety! We must stop being politically correct and get down to the business of security for our people. If we don’t get smart it will only get worse.
Gun laws in your society won’t help much, it is essentially a lost cause as there are far too many guns in circulation. The only solution will be one that spans generations. Reform of the education system to a set national standard to get the kids thinking and protracted campaigns like those against smoking and alcohol abuse. Oh, and slap a ferocious tax on the sale of guns, with ALL sales through licensed dealers. No private sales at all, but dealers to pay top dollar for all firearms purchased from gun owners, this funded by the tax on sales to the public. It will take 20 years but should get there in the end.
The founding fathers were LIBERALS by today’s standards, the rights in the Constitution are LIBERAL concepts of freedom of thought and expression. “Conservatives” like Hitler actually, have always been the oppressive forces, even in religions like Roman Catholics during the Inquistion, which lasted hundreds of years actually, Pope Benedict’s job as a Cardinal was with the retitled office of the Inquisition!
As to guns: if your car shifts gears without your direct input, it is an AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, if you attach a stock that refires the gun using recoil, just like the sear in a manufactured “automatic”, that rifle is now an AUTOMATIC IF YOU DON’T PULL THE TRIGGER FOR EACH ROUND. The NRA argument on the Vegas shooter using a “semi-auto” is horse manure, those rifles were now automatics!!
Is it still fashionable to demonize “White American Men”? “Lone Wolf” simply means there’s no known affiliation or motive that would have led an individual to commit a crime. They acted alone, without coercion or agenda. Can we please stop hating on white men as a group? It’s gone past tiring and well into irritating.
The arrogant plutocratic dominant white male Republican Trump cabinet and the snakes and thieves of the dominant white male Republican do nothing congress have everything to do with the distrust of white male patriarchy. Respect needs to be earned and they are earning the opposite with their actions. Perhaps people will stop voting for them since their politics stink so much.

From 2011-2016 18,000 Americans were shot. In Chicago alone. 3600 of them died.
The vast and overwhelming majority of the shooters were not white.
