I love Yakko Minneapolis complaining that Berkley “Banned” his appearance…at a venue he DIDN’T pay for, and with speakers that were advertised as coming that knew NOTHING about the appearance at all!

Deleting racist posts is a threat to the first amendment, but kneeling during the national anthem is a threat to the country? The president is now threatening private citizens with losing their jobs, what is the use of free speech if the government can directly attack individual citizens for what they say? When did it become free speech for one person to speak and everyone else to be subjected to them? Is this how we are going to make America great again?

Well, we come in here and speak our mind. That’s a form of free speech. We criticize the president. Criticize big corporations. We criticize news media. We criticize government officials. All of that is free speech. We criticize other people’s free speech. I’m so glad we have a place where we can speak our minds. I’m so glad we have cartoonists who put up pictures who give us subjects to talk about.

Maybe using an “I’m right and you’re wrong”, binary, two opposing parties method to determine the boundaries of acceptable free speech isn’t as good as deliberating, compromising, and agreeing to a set of standards?

Not all speech is protected. Threatening the President or a Federal Government official is a Federal offense in the Part 18 of the U.S. Code section 871.

The Bill of Rights needs to extend into the business sphere or it isn’t all encompassing.

It is not strictly correct that the “CIA demanded a college disinvite Chelsea Manning” — CIA Director Mike Pompeo withdrew from a Harvard appearance because Harvard gave Chelsea Manning a fellowship as part of a speaking engagement. Harvard withdrew the fellowship, but NOT the speaking engagement, after Pompeo’s withdrawal. Manning DID appear and speak.

The people of Berkeley are not going to let right wing fascists, Nazis and racists take over the country. They will do what ever they have to do to stop them because Never Again!
