Considering we cant communicate directly with other animals we cant know if they have no morality, even if it isn´t the same as humans.

    All dogs are always good.

… and you’re still projecting your limited human assumptions on dogs in all this.

Dogs follow rules set by their masters to remain part of the pack – is it so much different from humans adhering to moral code in order not to be shunned by the society? Morality expresses itself in the sense of guilt and dogs are definitely capable of this feeling. I think the only way you can say ‘dogs have no morality’ is if you are one of those religious people who equate ‘morality’ with ‘faith’.

My mother always said of my last dog, “Pickles isn’t a bad dog. He just isn’t a good dog.” In his defense, he was an amazingly sweet, loving and lovable dog. Everyone was his best friend. My present dog, is highly offended if you tell her she is bad. She goes immediately under the bed and won’t come out until you lay on the floor and make nice with her.

Training dogs can be hard. Need to respond to dog’s action within a very short time. By the time she comes home from work the dog has forgotten the couch thing. And is joyfully greeting her. You really do NOT want to punish dog for that greeting. ( from the top dog training organization in state of Victoria Australia. it is a big populous state. )
