And we ALSO have to find a way to give MORE and BIGGER tax cuts to the rich BEFORE we can help you…

Somebody has to pay for this lifesaver. Besides we have to stay laser beam focused on tax cuts for the wealthy because, well, that is far more important than your easily averted death. I’m sure you would agree. We have to have priorities.

House lawmakers voted Friday on an aid package crafted by Democrats and President Donald Trump. It includes federal financial aid for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in Texas and Louisiana. Leftover funds are expected to be used to address the most immediate aftermath of Irma in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.Three of six South Carolina Republicans voted no: Reps. Mark Sanford, Jeff Duncan and Ralph Norman. In North Carolina, seven of 10 GOP lawmakers were opposed: Reps. Ted Budd, Virginia Foxx, George Holding, Richard Hudson, Mark Meadows, David Rouzer and Mark Walker.

Three Georgia Republicans opposed the package: Reps. Doug Collins, Jody Hice and Barry Loudermilk.

Of the five Florida Republicans who voted, Reps. Matt Gaetz and Ted Yoho were opposed. The four Texas Republicans who voted no were Rep. Joe Barton, Rep. Jeb Hensarling, Rep. Sam Johnson, and Rep. Mac Thornberry, none of whose districts are in the region hardest hit by the storm.

Remember those names next time they are up for re-election…

For a number of years, the republicans have claimed to be the party of “family values”.

I would hate to be a member of their family.

Those same people who are opposed to helping, probably are at the same time big supporters of the National Flood Insurance Program, which is $25 billion in debt, probably from repeated rebuilding of beachfront properties and properties in flood plains. Welfare for the well-to-do and the foolish. (And why should insurance ever be written for buildings on barrier islands?)

Maybe if she builds a wall. Maybe if she denounces immigrants. Maybe if she divorces her wife. We’ll have to see where she stands on Russia before providing aid.

America can’t be great, if you don’t think all Americans are great.
