@poor cynical BrassOrchid…you’re obviously an intelligent person, but your cynical worldview is tiring and counterproductive. You try to be clever and erudite, but it often goes very wrong.
So here’s a suggestion. Argue your points without being cynical. What do you think? And, yeah, I know I’m inviting your blistering, cynical attack on me by pointing this stuff out..but I though with your intellect, you might be able to comprehend my gentle message through your fog of ideological cynicism.
More specifically, you please at least try to make positive comments, without what seems like a cynical, smarmy, supercilious tone? You may be better informed than everyone here. You may be world-weary, and “sophisticated.” Everyone and everything may be suspect and not up to your standards. But cynicism doesn’t count as a positive force in the world, and, while maybe you don’t care (perhaps with a cynical shrug), you may feel better, but it doesn’t really do anyone any good, or advance your worldview.
More broadly, including being a negative force in your life, cynicism becomes a negative force in the conversations you participate in here. Though perhaps you don’t care (the mark of the true cynic, no?), you can do a whole lot better with your considerable intellect if you try to be less negative, less cynical, while using more transparent, positive, and constructive language.
You’ll likely have a cutting and maybe even nasty comeback to this post…but be gentle, please. Your reaction will be telling as it will reflect your inner reality, won’t it? Hope you can turn away from the cynical and make more positive contributions to this forum.
I won’t be exactly surprised if you don’t adopt a more positive stance, but I thought it was reasonable to suggest. Ok, I’m ready for you to lash out at me, now…
