The repubs were not trying to fix it. They sabotaged it from the very beginning. Now, they want to erase it and claim their own victory, at any expense.
It is a massive bill that obviously would need to be refined over time. In Varvel’s home state Pence fought it to the detriment of the citizenry then embraced it while calling it something else. Now those same citizens may once again be tossed aside.
Really, Varvel? You seem to be doing a bad job as a political cartoonist since political cartoons are based in reality. Yours are now starting to be based on GOP vituperative, which has little to do with reality, even when democrats are not in the picture. But I guess, if one calls oneself an American, then the state of the GOP is the fault of American citizens for electing to office not the best people, but rather people who portray themselves to be mirror images of the people they want voting for them. Also, anthropomorphism aside, there are no bones in an elephant’s trunk!
Just let it die.I really like the premiums going from $120 a month to $620,the co-pays and the $4000 deductible that we did not have till Obama Care went into effect.Maybe we can go back to what we had before the dims messed it up.
The Democrats don’t think the ACA is working well. The Republicans made sure of that from the beginning, sabotaging it by removing all the most beneficial, working parts. ..But, even though healthcare costs have been rising all along, not just when it got passed, the ACA is, even as crippled as it stands today, far and away better than what the Republicans are concocting. That’s why the Republican plan can’t get passed.
Varvel completely ignores latest report ( that the ACA is “working as intended” ) from the Department of Health and Human Services! [ Is he so tired from “winning” that he doesn’t bother to read news wire services? ]
There is no Democrat who is saying it is working just fine, after 7 years of blocking, defunding and not tending to it, the ACA could use a lot of care. As you can see the Republican has been dismantling it and just got a shock when he tried to repeal it outright. Fortunately, that Elephant has Obamacare and can get that looked at (for now.)
We need to fix Congress by sending the Republicans home for good. Then we can improve the Healthcare Bill. We also need to prevent the states from sabotaging Healthcare by not extending Medicaid for those who need it. If this thing fails, poor people can only go to the emergency room for care and we all pay for that anyway. This shouldn’t be about greed. It should be about doing what is morally right.
Sorry COOPERSDAD, but the Rethuglicans only know one thing for sure: any healthcare plan MUST provide huge profits for providers and insurers. MEDICARE FOR ALL.

The only thing wrong with the ACA is the compromise the GOP insisted on to that would make a profit for the insurance companies.
