I have a question: I get that the grandmother and her 2 daughters have all remarried, and to who. I get that the one daughter’s 2 girls and the other’s one son from the earlier cartoons haven’t got any older, or not much. I get that the younger daughter had a kid with her new husband. Here’s my question: Who’s the blond teenager-type guy??
I don’t understand why some people like this kind of strip. To me it is nothing, boring, a stereotypical picture of an imaginary life. Do families really do this and like it? I can remember family picnics back when I was young and I don’t remember most people loving it. I guess we kids loved the food, and the chance to get away from parents and screw around in the woods or lake, and the adults I guess liked their beer — maybe numbed them to the boredom.
Here in KS schools starts mid August, Monday is enrollment day. For a change we are having cooler weather. August in KS means 100° which took play in July. This week is cooler. With SS Sunday only be less Summer in August.
I’m not minding August at all this year. When I lived in Michigan it was over 90+ and I hated it. Now I live in Canada and the summers are usually 70’s and 80’s. Much more bearable! Next week it’s 70’s every day!
So much hate, lol, I swear people come here in August just to hate on these strips. If anything, if ya hate the heat, August should be good because it means fall is right around the corner (unless you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, of course)
I remember Jan doing all these “Ya gotta love August” comics. I guess after twenty years of comics, it’s excusable to be at a lack for ideas. Still, though, it’s not really even that comedic . . .

It may be my birth month, but the unrelenting heat is horrendous. No, I don’t gotta love anything.

Ya gotta love August. When the cartoonist who retired to just Sundays decides to take a break from any kind of gag or story…

I gotta love the “You gotta love August” strips. I’ve missed them since it went weekly and glad to see we get at least one this year.

Three more Sundays in August. Love ’em ’cause Jan shows all of the family members doing something.

No, you don’t “gotta love August.” The most miserable month of the year, next to July.
Please get some new material.

August looks great in this comic, but in Florida it is miserable. Hate Summer in FL

I love summer! August is definitely play in water month. We’ll be nice and toasty for awhile here in FL, thankfully. Anything below 75F is cold to me.

I enjoy these august strips for their art, color, idealism, a tiny break from reality.
