How about the question of why hot dogs come in packages of 10, and hot dog buns come in packages of 8?

A muffin (US type) tends to be mixed less precisely than a cup cake, but to me they are the same thing.

The difference between a cupcake and a muffin: cupcakes come topped with an obscene amount of frosting. Muffins are cupcakes that you fool yourself into thinking of as a healthy breakfast food because they do not have a mountain of frosting on top.

I always thought cupcakes were sweeter, but then someone came out with the coffee cake muffin and it’s just coated with sugar.

Muffins are heavier, they often have bran in them and people eat them for fiber.

A cupcake is made from cake batter and serves as a light dessert.

And why are pancakes (made from cake batter, topped with atrocious amounts of sugar syrup) an acceptable breakfast, and cake is not?!

    Alligator vs. crocodile?

    Chickpea vs. garbanzo bean?

    Seal vs. sea lion?

    Banyan vs. cypress?

I’m sure there ARE answers to all these questions, but I can’t remember them, either.

The Muffin Man is seated at the table In the laboratory of the Utility Muffin Research Kitchen . . . Reaching for an oversized chrome spoon He gathers an intimate quantity of dried muffin remnants And brushing his scapular aside Proceeds to dump these inside of his shirt. . . He turns to us and speaks: “Some people like cupcakes better. I for one Care less for them!”

Cupcakes are light and fluffy and designed to taste good. Muffins are heavy and stodgy and designed to make you poop.

Cupcakes have a frosting and the cake is sweeter than a muffin. A muffin is usually not as sweet and has fruit or bran.

Cupcakes are truly a cake, light & fluffy, where as muffins are actually breads. The differing ratios of sugars, flours, oils & liquids create either light or dense.

A cupcake is a cupcake and a muffin is a muffin.
