Mom married a loser. Like mother, like daughter. But wait a minute– maybe the music group will be a huge success.

Zeke can afford to retire. He’s been putting away thousands of shares of General Motors stock for the past 20 years. Time to lean back and collect the dividends!

Toggle’s story is barely started–he’s not going to be content with things the way they are!

Toggle is nothing like Zeke! Toggle joined the army, served bravely, and now he’s starting a new career on his own with his talents.

I hope Trudeau isn’t stupid enough to split the world into two groups, the worthless ones being those who didn’t go to a prestigious school.

I forget where it was in the story arc, but Toggle was actually thinking about going to college at some point.

Before the last frame, I thought Joanie was referencing the fact that JJ married Mike (Alex’s dad), and THAT’s why she was upset.

Of course, the door’s still open to saying that BOTH Mike and Zeke are “wrong” for JJ…

I don’t think Grams was trying to imply that Toggle is a loser like Zeke. I think she’s far too wise for that and knows that telling Alex she sounds like her Mom will be the quickest way to get her to quit talking the way she is!! Go Grams!

I still remember how JJ got Mike in the first place - she called him at his dorm and asked him to come over. He said (for whatever reason) he couldn’t, so JJ said “Well, then, I guess I’ll have to take a shower alone”. Needless to say, the next panel showed Mike’s dorm room empty. Mike was from Tulsa, Oklahoma, but he learned fast. And Joanie was divorced from Clinton Caucus, who was never actually in the strip, as far as I know.

MamaTaney, I think you’ve got it. And Toggle’s already done more with his life than Zeke ever could. He served in the military and is working on his aphasia. That alone is more hard work in a few years than Zeke’s done in a decade.
