I once watched a child rearing expert on TV explain why you should never spank your children. When asked if he ever spanked his he said “Yes, but I was wrong when I did that.”The audience booed him out.
discipline is necessary for children to understand that there are limits to what they can or cannot do. It does not have to be physical discipline. Teaching them that there are repercussions for doing wrong helps them make the right choices. Negotiating with them puts THEM in control.Child psychologists are idiots. Thanks to them, the kids are in control not the parents. Kids run wild because they know there is NOTHING anyone can do to stop them.
My father was in the military and was often gone for long periods of time. My Mother would resort to the “wait till your Father gets home” so many times I became quite worried. How many misdemeanors add up to a capital offense? Of course, when Dad got home, he had no interest in renewing his relationship with his children by beginning with punishments.
