Donald Trump: I'm not going to criticize Putin. America is just as bad? Uncle Sam: What are you talking about? Donald Trump: Consider who America elected president.
Except he hectored Putin , yelled and wouldn’t sign the peace treaty and said they should have an arms race.the best thing he did was be friends with Russia; we don’t Need another enemy, but he blew that too.
This is one statement that I mostly agree with Trump with. Our government isn’t so innocent. The US has been interfering in the internal matters of other nations since the end of WWII. We’ve outright overthrown democratically elected governments to install unpopular puppet dictators at the request of oil companies. The sad truth is the US government doesn’t care in the slightest if a foreign government abuses its own people so long as they remain loyal and friendly to the US. It’s only when dictators decide to turn on the US government that we use their human rights abuses as an excuse to depose them and install a new puppet.
I can agree with much of the previous post. The difference is, we have attempted to change our behavior, albeit fitfully, while Russia remains a paranoid, autocratic state, where opposition and journalists are silenced at the point of a gun.At least, so far, we have courts willing to stand up and spank a President, of either party, when there is wrongdoing.Fid me a valid opposition party in Russia, then we’ll talk!
Just as the behavior of others doesn’t excuse ours, our own past (and likely present) sins don’t excuse letting our guard down when faced with a dangerous character or regime.
America is as bad as Putin because it is now heavily influenced by Putin. Between the FBI, Trump, Ross and Tillerson, the Russian hacks that helped Trump get his almost win, and the business ties between Russia and the White House. We are as bad as Putin, We are being run by him.
The first Bush invaded Iraq (with a boatload of allies, including other Mideast countries) because Iraq annexed Kuwait. At the moment, Russia has annexed part of Ukraine and is looking for more—and the world is looking the other way. (And, yes, I’m fully aware of the irony that the evil dictator father of the current evil dictator of Syria was our ally in the first Iraq war. So was the evil dictator of Iraq the day before he invaded Kuwait.) Trump has never much cared for the United States—in fact, he seems to dislike it so much that he refuses to pay any taxes to it!
so, republicans are fine to admit that the U.S. has done horrible things, just as long as we don’t apologize for them. got it. or at least I assume that is why they got all upset at Obama’s “apology world tour” and haven’t really seemed to be bothered by Drumpf’s statement.

Yes, it is becoming more and more apparent that Trump actually did get “elected” just like Putin.

That’s “whom” Trumpy dear. Better learn that just in case you grow up to be president…

I think that Putin wants to be a modern day Stalin, and so does Trump.

I don’t see Putin as a Stalin simply because he isn’t one. He is his own self. Someone you don’t want running your country.
