They didn’t care about their constituents’ concerns; they only backed off after Trump tweeted his objections and they didn’t want a public fight this early.

It is completely inaccurate to state that the Congressional Republicans backed off closing the Ethics Office because of Trump’s tweet. Instead, they were responding to calls that flooded into their offices from constituents – coordinated by Democratic leadership.

Why so many repetitions??

Just another Democratic plot to try and keep Republicans honest. I’m sure the Republicans will come up with a work around.

The buglers have been running Congress for years. Why is anyone surprised by this?

The sun came up today, and two minutes later, Trump tweeted that the sun should come up. Then another two minutes after that, he took credit.

Don’t worry they’ll get rid of the congressional ethics office while no one is looking. You know, like the unethical party that they are.

The Congressional Ethics Office may be “armed”, as it says in the cartoon, but that hardly means it’s “armed and dangerous”. That would only happen if the current leadership let it do its job, which seems very very unlikely. It’ll continue its existence as a show-window mannequin, but you know those don’t have any teeth, right?
