The pizza I love best is a “garbage” pizza. It has lots of veggies on it. And yes, the tomato is not a vegetable. It is a fruit. Berries are fruit.

A Judge ruled that since they are usually consumed during the meal and not during dessert that it is legally a vegetable (at least in relation to import laws).

Pizza can be part of a balanced diet. I don’t usually have pepperoni, unless I’m making it myself and can have it in small quantities, as the grease gets to me. But it is really a fairly balanced meal: Meat, diary, vegetable, & grain. Just watch how much you eat, and adjust the crust & toppings to fit your dietary needs.

Shades of R. Reagan! Under Reagan, ketchup was declared a vegetable. Reagan’s cutbacks in the federal school lunch program made it harder to provide a “balanced diet” to schoolchildren, including fresh vegetables. Reagan argued that ketchup is a vegetable because it is red and comes from tomatoes.
