Salutations to Mel Blanc !R.I.P.

Should be “…..f-f-f-folks”.

Sad day.

What gives? Mel Blanc died several years ago.

I just don’t get this. Anybody?

P-P-P-Porky Pig hasn’t been seen in ANYTHING in over a decade; hasn’t been in anything but a cameo for quite a few decades. Why is this coming up now?

Poor Porky, even his last words are a stutter.

Mr Blanc passed away in 1989. Not sure the point of this cartoon.

Mel Blanc died in 1989.

That’s a lot of years in a pig’s life even if he isn’t as well known today in the age of Dory and Pixar characters. Like all Hollywood stars they should be remembered for what they did best and am glad so many of you had kind words to say about the greatest animation voiceover artists of all time—Mel Blanc (especially for Si and Sy from the old Jack Benny shows).

No, there’s nothing timely about this one— nothing has just “happened” to Porky Pig in “real life”, and Mel Blanc has been gone a long time. Only thing to read into this it McPherson just happened to think of the gag in the last day or two (or whatever his lag time is).

That inscription is on Mel Blanc’s tombstone.

If you think this is poorly drawn, it’s much worse without the color. In today’s paper I thought that was a pumpkin on Elmer Fudd’s head. Yes, that is supposed to be Elmer Fudd, I think.

I remember after Mel Blanc died there was a special print of all of his characters standing with their heads bowed toward an empty microphone under a spotlight. It was called SPEECHLESS.

At his funeral, Porky’s friends wallowed

In depression that could not be swallowed

But what brought out the tears

From his cartoony peers

Were the ham-and-cheese nibbles that followed
