The border may be open to visitors (provided you are rich enough to have a passport which was not required back in the days of “the world’s longest undefended border”), but it takes at least a year to qualify for “landed immigrant” status and the right to stay. You need to deal with reality for a change instead of elementary school playground na na na taunts. I saw the loss of the cream (as well as some dregs) of a whole generation in the 1970s. I went with them, but for different reasons, and saw it up close. I don’t want to see it again, no matter how much you do.
