Modernization of the nuclear triad is a good thing. Missile silos designed in the 1960s have lost quite a bit of the protection that they had when designed. That was the fact that we had a pretty good idea of how much error was in the Russian weapons ability to hit a target. Most would be off enough for a silo to survive. Now, not so much. (and no, I am not citing GPS type systems. US or Russian, they get taken out of play early. (I worked on radio wave propagation through nuclear-disturbed atmospheres during the 80s.) Warheads have sophisticated systems, including old fashioned celestial navigation, but with new and very, very accurate data.

But beyond vulnerability, nothing (except original Edison light bulbs: http://www.centennialbulb.org/ ) runs forever. Stuff wears out and weapons become a hazard to the owner. And we are talking about dangerous systems.
How can we communicate when Republicans keep using words to mean the opposite of what they mean to most English speakers and writers? The KKK hasn’t had any connection to Democrats since the Dixiecrats finally decided they were really Republicans (as we contended long before) and ran as such. The hood’s on your head now.
the department was formed from a hodgepodge of other disparate agencies, and has never really done anything except screw up in it’s 40 years of existence. it needs to be disbanded withe the sub-agencies worth saving farmed out to more appropriate cabinet offices.
The cartoon show why cabinet members and Congressional heads have a chauffeur assigned. That, and as old timers in Bonham say, everyone got their cars off the street when Sam Rayburn was back home, he was not the best of drivers.
