Don’t forget what happened to the natives from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and all across a continent.

For those who actually think about such questions, here is a discussion by Peter Singer. Notice the differences he makes between empathy and compassion. (It seems to me that many of the above posters are a little light in the area of compassion.)

I didn’t even know about the genocide in Bangladesh. I knew that Bangladesh was once East Pakistan, but didn’t know about the mass slaughter by West Pakistan that accompanied the secession.

Understanding history is one way to try not to repeat it. We’re still benefitting monetarily from our theft from the Native Americans (who we are still putting down). Nobody said that DAPL is exactly the same as genocide, except by pretending someone else did in order to ridicule something they didn’t say.

    .

    And.

    .

Once again, we see the total exclusion of any middle ground when Republicans argue. “Oh, if you don’t think we should keep all non-whites under our thumb, I guess you just want to give candy bars to terrorists!” There’s a vast middle ground they pretend not to see.

Democrats decry what is going on in Aleppo but don’t have the fortitude to actually do anything about it.

What is going on in Aleppo is not genocide. They are doing a Soviet style put down of the Arab Spring rebellion.

The Russians did the same in Chechnya.

War is far worse then can be imagined.Ask any Yazidi woman.

Don’t worry dems Obama will do nothing.

Europeans used several devices, deliberate and sometimes “accidents of providence” to destroy over 20 million indiginous people in the “New World” that they brought old world relgion, greed, and horror of wars to. My ancestors were among the dead and displaced.

In Viet Nam we used “zippo raids” against rural farming folks who had little to destroy. Aleppo, Beirut, Baghdad, Kabul and surrounds, “western civilization” is often a cruel joke, and excuse for using terror to secure power.

Man’s cruelty to man. Never ending, instead of rocks, spears, bows and arrows, we now use more sophisticated weapons, but the cruelty never changes.

Genocide is the extermination of a culture not necessarily every person in that culture. DAPL is genocide because one of its purposes is to destroy the plains culture (such as bulldozing cemeteries and running it through places of religious significance). After all, white eyes can’t permit the renaissance of the culture that defeated Col. (bvt general) Custer!
