I don’t bank online, don’t shop or pay bills online. I don’t do taxes online either. I have direct deposit for my paychecks, but otherwise. I do banking and shopping in person and I pay bills and do taxes by mail. I don’t have “home mail delivery” – I get my mail and post my mail at the post office. Some people in town have mailboxes, but you don’t see mail carriers walking their route. It’s all by car. But anyway, I don’t see mail carriers going the way of the Fuller Brush Man. Some of us still rely on “snail mail” and intend to do so forever (or at least as long as we are alive).

So far I haven’t gotten any credit-card applications in my email, they still come snail mail. Ditto with the never-ending satellite-service offers. We both do as little as possible with online bill-paying due to security concerns. We’ll also help the mail delivery service alive.

Aside from junk mail which is mostly rare, packages, cards and invitations, magazines, and coupons still get delivered through the mail.

My step-mom, however, doesn’t even have a computer and still relies on regular mail for everything.

My husband gets his medicine from the VA delivered at the Post Office. In fact a lot of people order meds online. Unless someone can figure out a different way to do that . . You can’t just deliver them to a house and leave them on the porch. On another note, the town that I live in (in Nevada) hasn’t had curb side boxes in more than 30 years – and there are probably 600 houses in this little town.

Whoa…. America is leading on something like this?

I guess it makes sense, more spread out, and your postal system was never as good, so less motivating.

However I still get a lot of stuff through the post, I know other people who do, even after you leave out all the above mentioned stuff for the hell of it, business is very reliant on post. The postal system could attempt to price out the individual for anything other than parcels, but… eh, I think not yet.

I still see mail carriers walking or cycling all the time. In places I’ve lived with multiple people, we get a LOT of post through the door each day. With less people, you don’t get stuff every day, but… often enough!

Also the postboxes / mailboxes for sending stuff, are still fairly prevalent… so they still have people driving around to empty those and whatnot! And lord if you work upfront for a company, you get tonnes of post from …. a normal carrier, walking or driving around with a big bag. Even if they change, they’re not going anywhere, and even if they go somewhere, it’ll only be to all being couriers.

Amazon and eBay use snail mail for “the last mile” delivery for many smaller items.

The only snail mail I get are flyers and other ads. But I still rely on the USPS to deliver all of my wonderful Amazon packages Amazon delivery in my area isn’t very reliable so USPS and UPS still do most of the drop offs.

I don’t really get excited over mail delivery anymore. No bills since they’re all online & social correspondence is all done on Facebook or texting. Christmas cards maybe but you can also send E-Greeting Cards too for any occasion. You can even get store coupons online from the store you shop at or on apps like Flipp which is new. Postal Service has gone the way of telephone landlines. They’ll still be around but just not as relevant anymore
