But wait. Wasn’t it Solyndra that got $500,000,000 in federal tax dollars……but folded anyway?

It’s only bad if Republicans do it. Frankly, I don’t like it when the government does this sort of stuff. I understand it, I understand why, but I don’t like it.
-And that $7,000,000 Indiana gave them is countered by several factors however.
Indiana has an income tax rate of 3.3%. Let’s just say that 800 jobs with an average salary of $40,000 were saved. That is $1.56,000 per year in income taxes collected by the state. Now, add to that state payroll taxes. Now add to that the income the state gets from its 7% sales tax. Gonna make their money back in just a few years.

Lets not be disingenuous here boys and girls.
I am still not for it. But when was the last time a President worked to do this? I don’t like Mr. Trump. Did not vote for him, but it’s a start.
What a great deal. The Indianapolis plant will still lay off 400 and the Huntington plant will close and lay off another 700. Pense provides seven million taxpayer dollars to Carrier and I suspect the 800 people who kept their jobs in Indianapolis had better be looking at how to get another job in the not too distant future. Once the “victory tour” is over Carrier can quietly wind down that facility. Big business is probably elated over the deal, the middle class workers, not so much. Another Trump success!
Oh please take us for a ride great orange leader. When it goes south (guess what Trumpsters, it already is) we’ll just blame any and all that aren’t on board with us.
Denison, TX (Eisenhower’s birth town, although he always claimed he was from Kansas) made that mistake. Several companies came in because of one of those tax-free deals. When the time expired, they all left town in the dark of night and the workers didn’t know about it until they showed up the next work day. These literal fly-by-night companies were major corporations, operating under their real names, that you would recognize. Standard corporate procedure. Standard government co-conspiracy. Standard one-day media coverage.
Trump isn’t doing anything for workers, he is having a celebration tour, while he promises tax breaks to companies who do not have to retain workers or even keep their plants open. Meanwhile he has gone back on his promise to tax companies who “fire all their people, move their plant to Mexico” – now he give tax breaks to companies who only move “some” jobs to Mexico. Corporate America can look forward to a reduction in their taxes and those workers can look forward to just another broken Trump promise.
Too Big To Tell "Good Luck in Mexico!”Just like the banks should have been allowed to crumble if they failed to operate properly, so too should Carrier and UT be allowed to go on and leave the US. #ByeFelicia
The CEO of Carrier probably used underhanded tactics: he told Trump he was smart and handsome, and after that, Trump fell over himself to give him things.
Trump took credit for saving “1,100 jobs” at the Carrier plant in Indianapolis “from going to Mexico.” But the company told us that the agreement prevents 800 factory jobs from going to Mexico. Another 300 jobs in “headquarters and engineering” at the plant were never going to be shifted to Mexico.
Kinds like those Ford jobs he saved a few months back that were never in peril to begin with.

Did you ever consider that if Pence was a better governor that these companies would not be leaving his state in the first place?

So, it turns out only 800 of the 1,400 jobs originally planned to go to Mexico will stay in Indiana. In return, Carrier gets about $7 million.

I’m old enough to remember when conservatives used to howl at government “bailouts”.

Not only can corporations extort money, they can get away with keeping less than half of the jobs they originally promised.
