    We’re #1 ! America has the highest rate of childhood poverty of any major country in the world. Millions of our seniors also live in abject poverty. There are 525 billionaires in America, and some 15 ½ million millionaires. Common folk most often tithe and contribute all they can- and it’s not enough.

    How do the rich sleep at night knowing that so many of our grandparents and children are hungry and poverty ridden?

    In 2015, 9 percent of Americans aged 65 and older lived below the poverty line, and 20 percent of our children lived in poverty. One child in five in 30 states miss 100+ meals each month. Mississippi (27%) and New Mexico (27%) had the highest rates of children without consistent access to food.

    Hunger stalks 15 percent of rural American families-

    they lack 100+ meals per month.

    Two thirds of the counties with the highest rates of child hunger are in rural America- 16.7% of the population there is below the poverty line. In rural America, single mothers and their children suffer the most- 47% live and die in poverty.

    Instead of cutting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and nutrition programs, we should be expanding these programs with the money that the rich hide in tax-free offshore accounts.

    Just spent the day at craft fair. Every booth had a charitable cause: accessible school playground, food pantry, coats for kuds, even a bucket for the new K-9 cop. Where are our taxes going? Salaries, employee benfits, and retirement. Not much left over for funding “superfluous” programs. Did not see one “rich” person there with their open checkbooks. Just we all too few “bleeding hearts” giving what we could.

    WEST LONDON

    .

    Crouch’d on the pavement close by Belgrave Square

    A tramp I saw, ill, moody, and tongue-tied;

    A babe was in her arms, and at her side

    A girl; their clothes were rags, their feet were bare.

    Some labouring men, whose work lay somewhere there,

    Pass’d opposite; she touch’d her girl, who hied

    Across, and begg’d and came back satisfied.

    The rich she had let pass with frozen stare.

    Thought I: Above her state this spirit towers;

    She will not ask of aliens, but of friends,

    Of sharers in a common human fate.

    She turns from that cold succour, which attneds

    The unknown little from the unknowing great,

    And points us to a better time than ours.

    Even in 1867, it was the case that poor people were more likely to get help from others not much better off than themselves. If these guys think they’re going to get helped by the self-obsessed gold-plated tycoon, then they deserve to be drawn as slack-jawed idiots.

    This says it all. Now, let’s see how much you save on taxes on that new job you are NOT going to get.

    What concerned me was when “Mr. Successful Businessman” Trump, stated he didn’t KNOW what a blind trust was!! He also has proposed many “policies” that prove he doesn’t know what the Constitution is, nor does he care about the rule of law, or decisions from SCOTUS over the decades.

    The issue isn’t about “politicians” vs “outsiders”, it’s about having someone driving your bus who at least knows what brakes, accelerator, or steering wheel do!
