Some were lulled into a sense of complacency by the polling, thinking it didn’t matter, Hillary was a “mortal lock” in the gambling world phrase. Some didn’t like either candidate and didn’t care for Libertarian and Green party, and assumed all would work out well without their vote. It’s hard to believe anyone who was wholeheartedly in favor of Hillary didn’t vote, if they were eligible to vote. Some may just now be realizing what a trainwreck this “apprentice” is going to be, with the horrible crowd he’s surrounding himself with, and are now ashamed that they didn’t realize Hillary was the far superior candidate.

Spoke w/a young pal who did not vote. She gave her reason that her vote didn’t matter. Now that I see the popular vote in HRC’s favor, I’m beginning to see her point. Abolish the Electoral College.

I did not Vote for President Either ( I voted for my States Senate) primarily because I didn’t think either Trump or Hillary had the Integrity or Honesty necessary…….. Trump had a minor Meltdown about The Army Officer killed 12 yrs ago and then attacked his family (a BIG NO NO), then went after that former Miss Universe ( who cares if she gained weight she had completed her reign) then the scandal on him groping women………. Hillary had Trust issue (Massive Ones), she could not connect with the voting public, Her refusal to give up the e-mails, the scandal with the Clinton Charity ect. So either of them lacked what I thought was necessary to be President.

I notice one of the protestors is calling for “giant puppets.” Of course, Trump will be a (small) Putin puppet. Or a lap dog. (Or, the term I coined—far as I know!—a lap amoeba!)

The people who claim that it was the FBI “October Unsurprise” that did in Hillary are just delusional. Compare the number of votes Hillary got with those that Obama got.The difference is a few million votes. And the unhappiness of people with Hillary was manifest throughout, and not confined to the right.

Hillary lost because she couldn’t get the extra votes out for her. Period.

This is not to say that I support Comey’s actions. He acted on suspicion only, with no actual evidence, in sending that letter. That’s the old J. Edgar Hoover style. And oh, gosh, look, there was nothing. How surprising! If he stays in office, expect more of it.

To restore unity, it would be necessary for there to be a single, reputable, news source that all political ideologies accept as truthful. And some issues would still be hard to resove.

why are people assuming the folks that protested didn’t vote? and political participation isn’t just 1 day every 2 or 4 years.

A majority of millennials supported Clinton, but less than half of them came out to vote. with 55% of those who did voting Clinton. It is my hope that every millennial, regardless of side, learns a lesson from this election and goes out to do their civic duty and vote every two years.

Not that the right-wing will care, they’ll change the law to make that kind of corruption legal until a Democrat is elected again.

Almost all of her rallies and political ads were wasted on obsessively attacking Trump. Doing, rather than making her case to the voters about what she has done and wants to do for us. She must be counter-dependent, needing an enemy to obsess on.

And the other thing that some here are delusional about is getting rid of the Electoral College. It will not happen, at least not in the foreseeable future. Because it would require a constitutional amendment with 2/3 states voting for it.

So, Democratic party folks, do you really think that you’re going to get the “red” states to go along with you wanting to diminish their power? Really? If so, I have several bridges for sale. You’ll find them useful as they also go nowhere.

Whining about the Electoral College is a waste of time. You have to get votes out everywhere. And be seen to be really all inclusive. I saw a stat (from a poll, so take it with a grain of salt) that said 75% of voters were white, and 25% were minorities. The latter tended to overwhelmingly vote for Clinton. Whites? Significant advantage to Trump. Which is why he won so many states.

The Democratic Party also failed to see the handwriting on the wall in 2008, when Obama, out of nowhere, defeated HRC for the nomination. In 2008, Democrats chose the unknown over the somewhat-familiar. That should have made a difference this election, but money talks.

The Democrats made themselves beholden to the Clintons because the latter could raise money from big donors. That worked out well, didn’t it?

The next Democratic contenders are going to have to out and spend a lot of time meeting with the people who have less money than the fat cats or celebrities. And they are going to have to be convincing in their interest.

My dad is 91, a veteran, and more conservative than anyone here. He didn’t vote at all this time, which surprised me a little.

You can bet that those 100 million wouldn’t have sat out on Barnard Sanders had been the pick.

Check the Constitution. It is 2/3 each of House and Senate and 3/4 of the state legislatures. That coalition of planters and merchants made sure The People would be solidly united to do anything to diminish their powers.

Yeah, we should have “elected” Trump “king” of America in the first place and saved a lot of time.

The activists who are out in the streets and organizing for social justice every day are hardly the ones to blame for this—it’s unlikely that they were the ones who sat out the election. The ones who sat out the election were the nonactivists who just weren’t inspired by what the Democratic Party had to offer. And a lot of the ones who came out for Trump were the old working-class Democratic base that the party has ignored for years. Let’s stop blaming the activists. They voted—they just think that’s not enough…
