Reminds me of when I was seven and picked up falling flower petals from the sidewalk, immersed them in water which was then bottled, aged, and presented to mom as a mothers’ day gift. I’m still embarrassed….

Two years in a row, I crocheted gifts for my brother. The first was a large scarf in somewhat expensive bulky yarn (just before a very cold winter, at that), and the second was a large afghan that would cover him from his waist to his feet when he was watching tv. As far as I know, both went into the trash when he moved a few months later.

I think store bought gifts can still be lovely. After all I have always received got store bought gifts and I couldn’t be happier.
