I’m against the death penalty because the government executes some number of innocent people in their drive to satisfy the public’s blood lust. But short of death penalty crimes, most convicts are non-violent and we “could” focus their prison time on integrating them back into society once they get out. Not likely given the thirst for vengeance and retribution— but certain more “Christian” than the current alternative.

What is the ratio of abortions and murders to capital punishment?

Thankfully the Holy Bible is not the US Constitution.

Everybody gets this wrong. Even though King James tried to translate the Bible well, we still get misunderstandings. The term is closer to “wrongfully kill”. In other words “murder”. They knew that not killing was almost impossible.

Alford pleas are bargains made to avoid death sentences, & having them carried out. They have been used to get (allegedly) the innocent, & perhaps guilty released, often having to agree not to sue for false imprisonment. Despite the insanities, it’s more humane, compassionate, logical to sometimes free guilty parties than to execute innocent ones.

Republicans use the bible to justify their wars and invasions that murder millions.

The same should apply to abortion, liberals can’t get around that. Kill them before they are born, but let them live a long life after they have killed someone…. Ignorance pure and simple. LIBERAL IGNORANCE, the worst kind

The death penalty has been proven time and again as ineffective in stopping crimes of passion, the majority of homicides. It is better to give life without possibility of parole, where 30 years later evidence shows actual INNOCENCE, and allows for a pardon if there was a mistake, dead is too late for forgiveness.

BTW: life without parole in egregious and horrible cases of proven guilt, doesn’t mean a life lived in confined luxury. No extraordinary extensions of life, like transplants should be allowed for example.

WE also, as a nation must end mass executions, called wars, like our invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, and continuing “adventures” abroad that only end in more deaths of innocents.

However you can give the injection to a mentally ill person who has been convinced they only have a few months left to live.

Turn the other cheek – doesn’t sound like Jesus preached self-defense. There are several versions of the 10 commandments – for example the Catholic version doesn’t refer to false idols because the churches have statues. (which other religions have claimed is a sin).

And that is a very Christian attitude, charlie — meaning not defending oneself. While Catholics are able to make a choice of the lesser of two sins — and killing someone in self-defense is acceptable — turning the other cheek, as Jesus did, is certainly acceptable and laudable.

Why waste millions of dollars on them if they killed a person. Shoot 20 – 30 people with a gun, then holler to get rid of guns yet keep the person who used the gun Make much sense??? Democrats way!!

I like the idea of giving the convict and the parents 1 hour of quality time in a room with everyone that loved the victim. If the wrong person is convicted, God will make it up to them later.

“Turn the other cheek” so your opponent is distracted and doesn’t note the sword you’re swinging at his neck.

Bull. Everyone on death row should be put to death, and anyone that murders or rapes should as well. Bleeding hearts over vicious criminals need serious mental help.

This comic makes no sense. The phrase comes from the Xtian Bible. The death penalty is a matter of law. Laws are not dictated by the Bible. The U.S. is not a theocracy. Asinine.

do away with police and armies lest they accidentally kill

    .

In case that doesn’t work out, place convicted killers in suspended animation until such time as they can be revived as non killers. Drop them — or us — in liquid nitrogen, maintain until solution is achieved or society tires of keeping cool.

Didn’t take long for the christians to start interpreting to say what they want. Good thing the bible only applies to all the damned-to-hell riffraff!
