I had a friend who thought it was the Hypocritical Oath. He wasn’t terribly bright, but he may have been on to something, if my doctor’s anything to go by.

Trouble with Bucky logic is that some folks do talk that way…..but since Bucky is a cat and folks are folks it does not count except in monkey time :-)

My uncle was on a tour bus in Banff a while back when the guide mentioned Marmot Avenue. A woman near him began talking to her companion about how strange marmots were, what with their polygamy and all. It took him a moment to realize that she was talking about Mormons.

I went into a second hand furniture store and saw a Duncan Five table for sale. And once in a little Ma and Pa grocery store I saw a bin of chocolate covered peanut clusters labeled turdles, nope, didn’t buy any, just in case.

My mother was a reservations agent for an airline in the early 1960s. She once got a call from a travel agent requesting a fare quote for a flight to Pepsicola, Florida.

Bucky’s not as far off the mark as all that. It’s called the Hippocratic Oath after Hippocrates, but hippo means horse so Hippocrates’ name must have meant horse-something.
