A friend of my dad in the 70’s was suffering from ill health and an aging hippie told him to hug an old oak that was in a field down the road from his house to absorb its strength . As he was getting nowhere with the doctors he thought he’d give it a go. He was told to do it every morning first thing which he did. On the 5th day when he went down there were tree surgeons from the council taping the field off . When Dan (dad’s friend) asked what was going on the Surgeons said " we have to cut it down this tree has dutch elm disease".
