And the sad part is, most of those people who do indeed go hungry in America are not “just lazy”.

Yes you get enough to eat, you are always stuffed!!!

Some people are willing to be generous with their own money. Others take pride in being generous with other people’s money.

One time during a conversation about children not eating their meals, we asked a Chinese lady who was quietly sitting in a corner, “What do you say to your children when they do not eat?”She replied, “Think of all the poor starving children in New York!”

This is one of the reasons I joined my church: we have a good outreach program. We do a thing called “prayers in the park.” We go out with a bunch of lunches and talk with the homeless. They are the ones who asked if we could do a “prayer thing.” No preaching, just prayer – and not even formal prayer at that. -— They form up in a circle and pray together because they want to. In this way, they are better off than some of our other parishioners: they know they need one another.

I’m with Calvin on this one. I don’t think Hobbes knows the feeling either.

yes Old Texan and the democrats are stealing the money that could be allocated to the distribution system. what a world !!!

Yet the govt is there to help its citizens or not?

I’m old-fashioned enough to subscribe to the notion that the only legitimate function of any government is to secure my God-given rights. If I have a God-given right to force others to contribute to the causes I consider worthy, it is not self-evident.

“Hunger is a sensation. Hunger is not starvation” True.. after three or so days the sensation ends as the body resorts to consuming it’s own resources. When it gets to the point when there isn’t enough resources, that’s when you’re starving.

And there was me thinking that Amercians gorged on fried food all day long.

Just shows how wrong I can be.

I prefer Asian food, if given the option.

However, I dislike typecasting food…
