Upon reading the first panel of any strip, most readers will instincively go to the one on the right. The top row mostly works, but the lack of rhyme messes up the meter, the bottom row then gets awkward, due to lack of context.

Most Sunday strips dedicate to expand on the relationship between Phoebe and Marigold. That’s one of the things I love about this comic.

@Nun’Ya Bidness:Thanks for your little explanation yesterday. I guess that is it.

    Yay! Another poem strip!

Anyone else think these were inspired by the similar ones Bill Watterson used in C&H?

Well Phoebe and her Unicorn took inspiration from Calvin and Hobbes. So that’s no surprise.

Actually, seeing the world from windows high above the ground is a very good way to see it. For example, there’s a point on the Glasgow-Shotts-Edinburgh train line where the train is travelling about 30ft above a wood, rather than through it, and if it’s early morning or dusk you can look out of the train and see deer grazing in the wood, who would have run away if you were on a level with them.

My mistake I read it incorrectly. Now it rhymes! My apologies to Dana.

A unicorn is like a motorcycle that can talk, I guess.

Funny. I misread it too. I read the first panel and said, “good, a poem.” When I got to the second panel and it didn’t rhyme I thought she was doing Avant Garde poetry. Then I figured it out.

I’ve read so much of this stuff recently, that i’ve started thinking in Phoebe-song-rhymes at least part of most days..

    Phoebe should be a rockstar[sic]
