A fool tried to rob a local gun store a few years back.He tried to take a hostage when he realized all the employees were armed.Only to get shot by the hostage.The police saved him from being further brutalized by his would be victims.
There is nothing in the cartoon to suggest this is a gun store. It could be the gun department of WalMart, an outdoor outfitter, or any other place getting rich off of those “levying war on the United States”.

The gun shops I know have several employees in them all armed. Probably wan’t one of those shops.
