Thank you so much everyone for your warmth, patience, and understanding when the strip was delayed by traveling to my grandmother’s funeral. All of your comments and kind condolences were a comfort to read throughout this weekend. Thank you.

And now to we go live to Beatrix!

Georgia, I hope all went well at your grandmother’s funeral. I also hope the others there shared memories of her with you; I’ve found that shared memories always comforted me when I lost a loved one. And as for the strip, I love seeing Baba Mouse coming to the rescue! Our elders are always there to save the young ones!

Forgot to mention that poofy tailed Lupin, poofy Elvis and poofy Puck are so sweet and adorable! It’s wonderful seeing how much they care for Beatrix!

Grabbed by the nape of her neck like an errant kitten. How embarrassing!

Baba acts while the others dithered. Good thing—-look how small she is! Reminds us she IS a kitten!

Georgia, I think that everybody here understands and understood that real life trumps (no pun intended) a comic strip, no matter how cute and wonderful it is. If we had to wait two weeks for a new strip, I don’t think that anybody would have had a problem at all with it. My condolences to you and your family.

“Who’s got four thumbs and …” yep, she may be in the running for Cutest Polydactyl Ever! (and I’ve know some real cutie-pies, too). Baba Mouse is my newest hero. I love these characters so much.

Georgia – hugs and condolences and prayers for your family.

Beatrix reminds me of Lois Lane, if Lois had been a kitten! would like to smack Trevor,, she’s her own cat indeed,, she’s just a kitten who needs protecting until she has some wisdom.

…whew…meanwhile – does anybody else think Agnes is going to end up being The Golden Mouse (or at least a reasonable facsimile?)…

I’ve got a two year old guy, Jack, a black cat that we took in with his two sisters when they were found under a front porch at my wife’s aunts house. I thought he was polydactyl. When I took him to the vet for his first checkup, the vet said he had opposable thumbs. And watching him in his day to day activities, I can see how he puts them to use, especially grabbing his toys. Like the vet told me, I’d better watch my wallet! :-)

Welcome back, Georgia! I am grateful you were willing to put up a new comic immediately on your return. Am I right in thinking this one was a tribute to your grandmother? I can imagine that she picked you up by the scruff of the neck many times to take you out of some dangerous stunt!

Oh my goodness, thank Cat for Baba Mouse, who likely knows the risk Bea is taking. I am a little disappointed in Trevor, as I had hoped, in border collie fashion, he would take charge. I appreciate his sensitivity, but stop dithering and save our girl ! Love the cell phone call between Elvis and Trevor, then Trevor covering his nose with his paws in worry. I hope Pucky is not too traumatized, given his bad experience with a presumed bird of prey. Lupin stays calmest, but as the youngest of the boys, may not have the perspective of the other two. We completely understand the reason for the delay but it was excruciating to wring my little paws all weekend, worrying. Glad to have this resolved, may now exhale:).

You don’t feel comfortable telling her what to do!?! Great, just let her get eaten by an owl, then you won’t ever have to tell her what to do again. Good plan, Trevor..Thank goodness Baba Mouse has more sense.

I had to smile at Trevor. We’ve had Border Collies for more than thirty years (all rescues) and I can tell you that, while they can be unbelievably smart (like one of our current boys who, by his own idea, rolls on his back to let me get between him and the foot of the bed on my nightly sojourn, rolls back and repeats when I come back), fast, energetic, have fierce concentration, there are also, um, others. Like our first gentledog collie. When presented with sheep, he politely greeted them then trotted off down the path, turning to wait for us. Or The Princess, whose coat was like ermine, was a world-class climber, afraid of NOTHING, and who made it clear that the idea of HER “doing WHAT with WHOM?” was out of the question before retiring to her cushion. And then there’s Jem, Friend of the World, who will gladly associate with anybody who’s willing but would never DREAM of suggesting anyone do anything. So yes, I smile at Trevor and his gentledogly reserve with regard to the redoubtable Beatrix. It takes a Baba to deal with her!

And, with the others, allow me to welcome you back, too, Georgia. Like Baba Mouse and Grandmothers everywhere, we stay strong and carry on. “Breakdowns can wait. What we need now is stability.” (Georgia Dunn, February 2015)

Love Baba Mouse coming to the rescue. Owls can (and have) killed and eaten cats… and while Wicket is just a screech owl, Beatrix is small enough that he could see her as lunch.

Welcome back & I am glad your travels were safe. I hope you and your family are all doing well. Thank you for the new strip – I had not expected an update so soon. I love the first panel, where the boys are all concerned. Poor sweet Pucky – he looks to have poofed to 5 times his normal size!

welcome back Georgia, and I hope your beautiful family is a consolation for you at this sad time.I’m glad Baba Mouse rescued Beatrix and disappointed that Trevor didn’t act like a gentleman and get her out of there — she’s just a kitten!

In defence of the boys not doing anything to save Beatrix, I will point out that they can’t because they are stuck in the house.

I have to say, on a third or fourth read (yes, I am that hooked) I noticed the little cell phones has pictures, Elvis on the one Trevor is using, and the reverse. It is those little delightful details that keep me coming back and rereading. Brilliant.
