Trump’s conspiracy theory catchphrase. He uses “there’s something going on” to insinuate a conspiracy or to trigger feelings of paranoia and fear in his audience and followers without ever having to provide specifics. Those are filled in by right-wing hate media and the listener. That is how Toles used his own phrase against him: “There’s something gong on” He never said Trump was Hitler.. YOU connected those dots. He’s doing exactly what Trump did with the gun massacre in Orlando. “There’s something going on” and you cry Muslim, or immigrants, or Godwin.
