The problem with guns will never be solved so why bother complaining about it? The NRA and their minions in Congress are in too deep to back out now.

Do you really believe that if you remove all guns that the evil people in the world who are hellbent on killing and hurting others wont find another weapon?!

Assault rifles were banned in 1994 and the ban lifted in 2004.It is time to ban them again.

“Is it easy to limit their access to assault weapons?”
No, it’s not easy. It’s very difficult.
But it would be easier than, say, invading Iraq. For something like that you’d have to plant a few lies, broadcast them repeatedly on ‘fair and balanced’ news media, and in the State of the Union address and start amassing troops.
Presto!Shock and Awe.MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
Limiting access to assault weapons will be much more difficult.

Damn. Ten minutes of typing and I delete it all cause it’s not worth it. No matter how many times the facts are shown BS like this cartoon will not go away.

If everyone had guns there would be no gun violence. Why cannot people get that?

Yes there are other weapons than AR-15 assault rifles. Let the crazies use knives. If we can save some lives, it is mandatory we do it.

^^“The upshot is that it is a complex and nuanced issue, not amenable to the simple answers offered by both sides.”
Republicans/Fox “news” viewers do not do ‘complex and nuanced’. Complex and nuanced are beyond their grasp.
For them any regulation is exactly the same as banning all guns. For proof, look at the postings in this thread. And they still believe OBAMA IS COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS!
In a totally unrelated coincidence, Trump loves the poorly educated.

This cartoon really hits the nail on the head. The NRA and other gun nuts say that we can’t ban guns because of the second amendment, and say that mass shootings aren’t a gun problem, but a mental health problem. And yet, they oppose every step, no matter how tiny to ensure that those who purchase weapons aren’t complete wackaloons. No tests, no registration, no demonstration of competency; in other words, they think that gun ownership is an absolute right. I wonder if they’d like to also advocate (it would be consistent, philosophically) that there be no regulations for driving a car, for practicing medicine, for building construction, or for food packaging.Sure, that’s the libertarian view, but not that of any thinking person. And just how did gun ownership become an absolute right, when nothing else is? For example, take the first amendment—free speech, sure, but not to yell “fire” in a crowded theater (yes, I know it’s an old warhorse); freedom of religion, sure, but not to practice polygamy or burning crosses on black folks’ lawns, etc. In other words, the rights are in a context of other people’s rights, as well as other rights that may and do limit the exercise of one particular right. The paranoia and cynical manipulation of the right-wing sheeple by the NRA and gun industry is too obvious to necessitate comment, but they are making this country a very dangerous place for the rest of us.
