If they do year round school here, they better put in some AC or they’ll just watch the kids melt.

Three month school break to work the farm EVERY day, sun to sun. Taught respoonsibility.

Three month school break to do nothing.

Teach those kids a good work ethic.

Jason should meet Susie over at Calvin and Hobbes. Susie likes school and likes people, and she just might convince Jason that girls aren’t all bad.

Year round school would probably result in teacher’s unions allying themselves with Al-Queda.

Jason, just stand outside Paige’s door and say this, you will not live to enter the school doors.

Teacher’s unions are already so socialist that they print newsletters in red ink. Not to mention anti-Christian and anti any thing we could believe in that is good and wholesome.

Jason are you looking forward to school? Teachers are looking forward to teaching new student’s and earning pay what there is of it. Until newness wears off then watch out.

But, Lew, farmhand, what would our illegals do?

Besides, I recall those “good old days” with the 102 degree heat in the hay mow and the farmer who had to rush the hay wagon so bad you’d bopunce off when it was empty. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

These days there is so much mechanization, the kid would hardly be working like you recall. Maybe you want to be Amish?

Freeholder1, I know plenty of farm kids around here and it seems the vast majority of them develop a very good work ethic, a day’s work for a day’s pay. I also know other kids in the neighborhood who waste away the summer watching TV, won’t even help their dad by mowing the lawn (on a riding mower, no less), yet they can’t wait to collect their allowance at the end of the week. The mechanization certainly puts the brakes on certain jobs about the farm because you need to be a certain age to operate powered equipment, but there is still plenty of work to do that they can handle. Many hands make light work is very true when it comes to haying.

Forget the carpet, imagine how worn out Jason’s sneakers will be.
