Another common sense safety measure would be a metal guard below the saber cross-guard to protect the user from his own weapon.
I loved the first “Star Wars”-inspired Family Guy parody where the Death Star where the operator wanted a railing but was denied by managers because “they’re worried we’d be leaning all day”. I’d post a clip but I don’t know how.
