If I could ban any phrase, “It’s the economy, stupid,” would be in the top twenty. Or maybe the top thirty. There’s a lot of agonizingly stupid phrases I’d like to ban.
Interesting that is what Clinton said and the Republicans never fixed it on THEIR dime! Atlas only grunted and passed his legacy on as “brain food” for the right, and forgot to flush, so they ate it up.
over 30 years of deregulation following the lead of Ronald Reagan produced a financial system that couldn’t hold up in a slight breeze and a financial disaster that still looms for millions of people world wide. Now the democrats get stuck holding the pot while they’re trying to clean it and the republicans point the finger at the dirty pot and say it’s time to clean house and reelect them so they can continue where they left off. God help us if people are so foolish as to let them back into power!
@ billdog - Don’t worry, I don’t actually want to ban people from saying it. I’ll just give them stern looks of disapproval. I may shake my head and sigh.
Their are currently 6,057 jobs posted in the last 30 days on a local web site. About a third of those are medical related and another 10% are executive. All these jobless people need to do is move. It’s what our forefathers did - unless you think “Go West, young man” is some kitschy line from a play.
I don’t see recession or depression; I see rearrangement. So if your only skill is 20 years of pressing a button on an assembly line, you are probably screwed.

I read Atlas Shrugged and rooted for Hank Reardon. They read it and rooted for Tinkey Holloway and the rest of the looters.
Socialism only works as long as there is someone else to rob.

“Atlas Shrugged”, and Ayn Rand’s other works, aren’t really about Socialism, they’re about the sanctity of intellectual property.

So easy to blame the incumbent for all the woes of the country. Much more difficult to fix the problems.
I have spied the enemy and the enemy is us.

It isn’t. It’s George W. Bush’s fault.

What is “It”? Katrina? Iraq? Middle East? Corruption? Healthcare costs? Deficits? The housing bubble?
Hey, I try to keep Bush’s faults catalogized as much as possible . He didn’t make it easy for me, I can tell you that :) .

If you are going to ban any phrase, how about, “It’s Bush’s fault”?
Got a little tired a year ago.
4uk4ata over 13 years ago
@ Franklin - sorry mate, the classics are classics for a reason. “It’s Bush’s fault” is like aspirin - it goes with everything.
