Maybe we should have shot it down and perhaps started WWIII? It is easy to criticize, not very easy to find real solutions. This kind of thing has been going on as long as I remember. Kennedy did react to missiles showing up in Cuba.
If the President had retaliated in any way, the Republican’ts would have accused him of being too aggressive and risking a war. As it is, they accuse him of being a coward and encouraging disrespect. The guy can’t win. Blatant partisan politics – as usual.
While the actions of those Russian pilots buzzing the ship were questionable, I think Russia’s also right to criticize us for our rather…belligerent, reaction to it. Some of the higher ups of this country kind of are reading a bit too much into it.
Amazing how a lot of commentators seem to think Ramirez is saying ‘we should have shot it down’. The point of the satire is Obama has fumbled so many foreign policy actions, that he no longer is respected by the foreign powers. Can you say Red Line in the sand, or our actions to the Arab spring, or our backing of the ouster of Mubarak?
Lester did this days ago. Ramirez should pay him royalties.Russia has been buzzing our ships on the Baltic & Black Seas since before the cold war. Putin is putting on a show for his domestic audience. Apparently, some people here are willing to be fooled by his propaganda.
Interesting game of cat and mouse between two superpowers. Let us hope that Russia and America think about what the possible outcome of an escalation between the two of them might mean to the rest of humanity. There have been repeated incidents over the past year, these unsafe and unprofessional actions by single pilots have the potential to escalate tensions between the two countries. The United States will not be intimidated by this. The Democrats are not the ones who declare “mission accomplished” when they didn’t do anything. The Democrats are the ones who killed Osama bin Laden. Never forget your 7-11 as you leader said.
This game’s been going on for a long time, from both sides. Neither Russia or Iran has been in other peoples’ waters and shot down an airliner on a civilian flight path. Playing in other peoples’ yards can be dangerously obnoxious.
This is the second time in a week Ramirez has run a similar themed cartoon. So I am reposting the same comment I posted last week:.US ships just miles away from Kaliningrad. I want to commend the commander of the USS Donald Cook for keeping his cool; he didn’t fall for the bait. Apparently, the Russian planes were unarmed. Countries that were once part of the Soviet Union are now members of NATO. In June 13,000 US troops will carry out excercises in Poland, right on the Russian borde. US intends to increase both the number of troops and anti-missile defense systems in Poland.

Hopefully Hillary can stand up to Putin where Obama cannot.

So now, according to Ramirez, the MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner was erected by the Obama administration?

Kudos to Mr. Ramirez on drawing an actual Burke class destroyer, and putting so much detail into it. So many would just sketch a generic ‘warship’.

Let’s see: Ramirez would prefer that we nuke ’em.

Mission Accomplished? That was one of the biggest lies ever told.

It’s Mr. Ramirez who shows no respect for the POTUS or the armed forces. I guess he would prefer WWIII.

I love how conservatives still can not get over this so they try and pin it on someone else.
