By the time $15 is implemented it’ll be too low and the clamoring will be for $20-$25.

Fifteen dollars in 2015 dollars. Index it to inflation. And we DO need unions.

A raise to $15 is a mere pittance when compared to the costs of obesity and heart disease that is due to eating at fast food places.

Why is it better to be unemployed at $15/hr than employed at $8/hr? Sorry, forgot the point of the cartoon – minimum wage increases set the bottom wage in union contracts.

If raising the min wage fixed anything, it would have fixed it the last 22 times min wage was raised.Min wage is like the bottom rung of a ladder. Raising the ladder still leaves the lowest rung at the bottom.

" In a normally developing economy, one would expect real GDP per capita and real wages to move together, growing at similar rates and certainly not diverging. But that has not been the case in the US since at least the early 1980s."

Obviously Benson’s never had to work a blue collar job to survive. Working your way through college as blue collar doesn’t count. You’re leaving, it’s not your life. Having that working mans job be your sole method of bread and butter, for a lifetime, gives you a different perspective. My biggest complaint of Benson’s childish cartoon? The union dog ought to be the biggest, meanest dog she can draw, with a mouthful of teeth and a killer look in its eye. $15? That’s insulting. $20 is a good start.

I never knew the teenager looking for summer work between semesters was raising a family of four on that income. But in lib-land, you’ll run across 6 impossible things before noon, every day.
