What’s really funny is that most ancients worshiped the sun. Scientifically, that’s more accurate than any surviving religion.

When you worship the sun, what do you do at night?

”We could be venturing into space on ships going many times the speed of light by now if it hadn’t been for organized superstition.” You mean like, E=mc2?

When the primordial oatmeal expanded, there were plenty of lumps. The problem was no one had a spoon big enough to stir the results of the big bang.

and yet there the “lumps” are– observably expanding and cooling just as they would be expected to do in accord with the “big bang”

The big bang was “an infinitely small point of infinite energy and mass” that, for some reason, exploded. Okay, where did that energy and mass come from? What triggered the explosion? How did the explosion produce just the right, delicate balance of forces to produce this universe.

I believe in the big bang. I also believe I know who was responsible for it.

As for the repressive things done in the name of religion, I can only say, that was man doing what he does so well. Taking anything given by God and screwing it up. We are here to learn that we cannot do anything right without Him.

Well, let’s not be too harsh. There is some wisdom there. After all, it doesn’t say to totally discount those claiming to have found truth. Only to be suspect of them. Let’s not turn ‘don’t believe everything you hear’ into ‘don’t believe anything you hear’.

I believe that I have found truth. But I don’t expect people to take my word for it, without testing it.

But you don’t know it truth unless you test it. Surely you don’t believe something just because someone says it’s truth? You have to doubt until you know otherwise. Too many people think, “Well, that sounds right. That’s what I’ll believe, too.” This is why there are so many false “truths” floating around now.

You see, the key to your statement is the word “if”. If is the biggest word in the English language.
