I remember a girl who, whenever she felt like swearing, would say, “Sugar honey ice tea!”

During the presidential campaign of 1963-64, I had a bumper sticker that read AUH2O in 64…

    Might be a stretch, I know…

The element called ‘Be’ is beryllium, which is very toxic to humans and other critters. So, yes, ‘Be’ careful, Horace.

And the element shown as ‘S’ (the first letter in the signature ‘Samson’) is sulfur. Not as toxic as Be, but also not so great.

The speech balloons aren’t coming from Horace, so who is actually speaking?

It should be elementary, my dear Horace, that you always listen to your dam.

Last panel wouldn’t have worked before a few years ago when element 111 was still provisionally named unununium, which according to a Top5 Science list “New Uses for Chemical Elements” back around the turn of the millennium or maybe earlier “cures stuttering” . . .
