No, it won’t cost 5 grand. This is far “right” talking point.

Why all the Republican establishment (including Henry, of course) criticism of Trump?

Does Trump not hate Obama enough?Does he not hate immigrants? And Muslims? Are they afraid he’ll reduce the supply of imported cheap labor? They think he’ll raise income taxes on the rich? Or mitigate wealth inequality?

“… Labor Costs – Just One Cost to Assess

If hourly labor costs at a given point in time were the only measure of the cost of operating overseas, then the decision to go abroad would be straightforward. The perception that labor costs are decisive helped fuel movement of U.S. manufacturing abroad in recent decades, and businesses continue to cite labor costs as a top factor driving the decision about where to locate production. Indeed, raw hourly labor costs are significantly lower in some other countries.[i] …"

The GOP leadership feels that, since he used to pal around with Hillary, he’s not a real totalitarian. To them, he’s a FINO.

" … The manufacturing-type jobs that once were the foundation of the U.S. labor movement have shriveled in both absolute and percentage terms. In 2000, 19% of the 11.1 million Americans in production occupations (2.1 million) were union members. Last year, total employment in those occupations was 8.1 million, only 13.2% (or 1.1 million) of whom were union.Last year, the two groups with the highest unionization levels were protective service occupations (such as police officers, firefighters and security guards) and education, training and library occupations, both at 35.3%. Not surprisingly, both groups are composed largely of public-sector workers. Federal, state and local governments have far higher unionization rates overall (ranging from 27.5% to nearly 42%) than the private sector (6.6%). But unionization has slipped even among those groups: In 2000, 39% of people in education, training and library occupations and 38.6% of people in protective service occupations were unionized. …” http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/04/27/union-membership/

The biggest obstacle to making iPhones in the US isn;t the labor cost, it’s the logistics. One advantage of China’s centrally planned economy, was they could dictate where entire industries would be built. As superposition’s earlier chart showed, China is now running into a different kind of wall in terms of growing exports at the rate they have been. Expect turbulence ahead…

There are thousands of Chinese employed making electronic goods, especially smartphones of all brands. This is one of the reason moving manufacturing to another country would be so difficult. All the components needed to make these devices are readily available in China.

What other reason could you think of for using your own money to start a business and then investing the 70-80 hours a week of your time needed to get it running?.If you think the system is working well.. I don’t. Nothing wrong with basing a selling price on the cost of production and a fair profit. Some don’t see it that way and will charge as much as the market will bear. And.. I doubt many put up their own money either, some for sure but rely on grants and loans for most of it.

I would be tickled pink to pay more for products if it meant Americans had more jobs, and it weakened an enemy, China. Cons don’t need to respond; I know you don’t comprehend this. If there were more American jobs, you wouldn’t be in the sorry state the republicans have chosen for you.
