Once more into the inflated air head breach.(Sorry, Quillfans, but it was too visually obvious not to say.)This image also raises the question of whether the prickly one will eventually pop his own inflated ego and float down to rejoin the rest of the world.

Rather than being a boring Sunday episode, this one seems loaded, and fully in keeping with the daily thread. It suggests that deep in her subconscious, Luann feels that she is being seduced down a dark path, and away from her true self. Pru has been encouraging her to steel herself against old emotions about Quill, while sending her to New York for fun, and subtly introducing her to gay culture in the process. Just like Palpatine in Star Wars flattered Anakin to pump him up, Pru has been pumping up Luannakin about being so grown up due to her new non-Quill/non-man focus. Luann has been getting high off it, and is eating out of Pru’s hand. The obvious outcome of that path, taken to conclusion, is Luann in a relationship with Pru. But if that outcome is not in line with Luann’s true nature, then it’s a dark side for her. This is also very much like the 2013 film, Oz the Great and Powerful. Evanora, a dark-haired witch, turned her younger sister to the dark side by getting her to steel her heart against a man for whom she once had felt love. That film may well have inspired the Pru thread from the start.

Bernice is probably right but still the book is a fun reference., like horoscopes. Why people have to judge makes me laugh. I often get my full blown Christian friends upset when i point out that Christianity is founded on a belief system that is based on impossibilities. In earlier times I would have been boiled in oil. And before anyone has a conniption, I am not anti-Christian. I was raised as one. but my father in law was a minister with a doctorate in theology, and we often discussed the similarities and differences of various religions. I mean any faith is a matter of CHOICE, which when chosen becomes ‘fact’ for the believer. Faith is believing in what cannot be proven, and trusting in that belief. In fact in the Christian mass, there is something called the Nicene Creed or Apostles Creed, where basically the entire belief system is reaffirmed as a mission statement, but the the first 2 words are either ‘I believe’ or We believe’. BELIEVE, not KNOW. And lastly, living by Christian MORALITY standards is not a bad thing, so long as you keep in mind that not everyone else IS one, and their beliefs are as valid as yours so long as you don’t impose them on others, and they don’t cause harm to the believers or non-believers. Atheists and agnostics are believers in a way too. They are believers in facts that can be proven. Also science and religion do not HAVE to be mutually exclusive. I know I will be attacked on this anyway.

So basically my long-winded editorial was about Dez’s book being ONE interpretation reference. Tarot cards are often used fro things like that, Religious books are also used for the same, as are resources like professional therapists, and clergy. I’m just saying that Luann probably said something like " wow I had the weirdest dream last night! It was so vivid though." and Dez grabbed her book, and said “let’s see what this says” and off they went.

There are many ways to see this cartoon today. There is the straight forward joke of snack food vs. incredibly generalized symbolism. There is the faith in generalized symbolism rather than individualized situational considerations. There is a resemblance of the elf to an actual person. Quill floats (away?) but at the same time is an inflated airhead and multiple individuals, and the pun w his name might have him a danger to himself in that state (which is true for people who inflate themselves, anyway). Luann’s body shape and setting go back to her insecure childhood. Like everyone she might also have some guilt about the personal growth she is just beginning to explore? King Kong? No idea, but His head and hands are more human like than gorilla like so i wonder if that might have been on purpose.

I don’t know about the rest, but a bus must mean inclusion. It’s short for omnibus, “carries everything”.The group of volunteers my stepson went to Ecuador with was always referred to as his omnibus.

Interpretation of this dream is a dream: *1)she feels evil for dumping Quill and then going out and having a good time. King Kong, or some other monster, is going to make her pay.*2) She knows she should ride roughshod over the kids she supervises, but they continue to want to be around her. Especially the ones that look like Quill.*The key to dream interpretation is to first know what the person is worried about and what s/he is hoping for. Then make up a story.

Interpretation: Team Evans is commenting about how they feel about the tendency for people to over analyze the strip. Especially about Luann as Darth Vader. Given that I was criticized lately for ascribing nasty intentions to Luann in a recent strip, I wonder if it’s less about Luann feeling evil than it is about Team Evans feeling she is overly vilified sometimes. She is riding the school bus because the strip is supported by readers who sometimes act in childish ways. I’m not serious about this interpretation, but these thoughts did come to mind, for good or for bad. And if my interpretation were somehow correct against all the odds, I would applaud Team Evans for it:)

How long will the tease continue before Quill crawls back and apologizes to Luann?

Simple answer: He won’t, so stop asking that question. Phrasing it differently each time does not increase the likelihood of the answer changing.

One thing that dreams do do (and yes I meant to repeat those transitive verbs exactly that way) is reflect subconsciously what happens consciously to the dreamer. Interpreting them is both a subject of science, and spirituality, or mysticism, however you look at it. So I will interpret them as much as anyone else could: Luann has had a lot happening, her love interest is floating away, its seems that crazy things over which she has no control keeps mucking things up, although the green gorilla I have nothing. The bus might represent school/college. Anyway this is her subconscious mind, and all of us have dreams we cannot figure out, but they generally involve basic themes. such as lack of control, or fear, or longing, or who knows. All I do know is that this is nice Sunday comic in Luannverse.

Disagree. Dreams are a magic mirror that never lies. While others can help the dreamer interpret his/her dreams by starting out “If it was my dream….” and offering insights that might case he dreamer to have an “Aha!” moment, only the dreamer can properly interpret the dream—and that may not be able to be done the day after the dream. Some of the most far-out images turn out to be very much on target when the “Aha!” moment hits. Check out the books of Jeremy Taylor if you’re really interested in the world of dreams.

From the ethics statement of the International Association for the Study of Dreamse:

“Systems of dreamwork that assign authority or knowledge of the dream’s meanings to someone other than the dreamer can be misleading, incorrect, and harmful. Ethical dreamwork helps the dreamer work with his/her own dream images, feelings, and associations, and guides the dreamer to more fully experience, appreciate, and understand the dream.”
