what is there to hate? Shock, vulgarity or the smattering of truth? They can hate him all they want – but they share the blame because they misdirected their ad buys and waited too long to criticize him. Trump is a reaction to the intellectual corruption of the Republican party. This would seem as obvious as Climate Change – something only the right doesn’t seem to be able to see. Republican primary voters are unable to see who is more reckless in their plans for president – but at least Trump seems like he wants to protect the country (even if you see how extreme his words are – this is what is drawing people to him). Evangelicals have given up trying to elect one of their own. Maybe Trump will shield them from the mounting threats to Christian freedom of speech and worship (as if this were a real issue). For eight years, they had a born-again in the White House – how’d that work out for Christians, here and in Iraq?

@ Blawt: Evangelicals (read religious fanatics who will vote against their own best interests if it means punishing those gays & other sinners) never lose faith. In TX primary & a few others Cruz won! Newt is the only politician I can recall that’s more of a theocrat. They misinterpret the 1st amendment to mean that Christians are free to impose their religion on everyone else.
