At the moment the issue has gone from controlling illegals, to who, under the Constitution, has the right to control our borders and set out immagration policy.

For the Conservatives the Constitution isn’t worth the paper it’s written on unless it’s talking about the right to own guns.

The Arizona Governor and lawmakes just used this issue to stir up the voters and give the impression that they are doing something about a problem when they aren’t.

That judge was probably elected by the same liberal idiots who put left-wingers in congress and the white house., It’s time to get rid of all of them. Election day si coming. Let’s take our country back!

bob875m - I see you really understand the judicial system here in the USA. Where are you from? Slovenia? Federal judges are appointed, not elected. And it was a middle of road president - Bill Clinton - that appointed her. Just like the 10th amendment gives states rights, the constitution also ensures that state law can’t supersede federal law. The constitution gives the Federal government purview over America’s boarders and who can enter and who cannot.

Once the feds have failed to do their job (i.e. control the border), it becomes the states problem Ken. The taxpayers of Arizona are then on the hook for every cost associated with the illegals. I would say that that would make it a 10th amendment problem, but instead I’ll just refer you to the Ernest Handcock position on 1070. Look it up, and see what he has to say, for the truth.

The law is the law. The fence is a flaw that only blocks jaguar movements (real ones) not “coyotes” and the folks they ferry across. Decades of inadequate enforcement, when the “right folks” were really profiting, didn’t stop the “problem”.

Illegal is illegal, whether migrants or legislatures that don’t read the Constitution. Deputizing “local” law enforcement CAN be done to beef up federal field officers, as long as they are enforcing the FEDERAL LAW. National Guard can provide support services, but CAN NOT UNDER LAW MAKE ARRESTS.

The “creepy-crawly” right-wing panic and passing of illegal “laws” that suppress ALL OF OUR RIGHTS is the dangerous step- NOT that wet foot setting down on “our” soil.

according to ken logic 9 [and i use the term loosely] local law enforcers should not get invovled in bank robbery because it is fed law

LMAO… Bill Clinton was a “middle of the road” President? That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all day. I guess it’s all a matter of perspective.

Pavlov- that’s why I was certified as both a FEDERAL officer in an exclusive (rare) federal jurisdiction, AND as a sworn California officer to be able to enforce state law (which offered more “choices” and was generally less “aggressive” than available federal statutes).

I think that it is great that EVERYONE has so much interest in how we enforce laws here in Arizona. They are so concerned for the poor illegal who is simply looking for a better life…YEA RIGHT! True there is a small percentage that this is true for, however, it seems that the majority are sneaking into America for other reasons. I find it interesting that so many want to codle law breakers who regulaarly trespass on private property, at times killing the property owner who gets in the way; killing federal officers or at least putting their lives in danger on a regular basis; and trampling and leaving tons of junk and trash on our landscape with no fear of retribution. In spite of this, what do their supporters say? Give them a free pass. Oh and by the way do any of you supporters know how many of these illegals simply take our money and run back to spend it in Mexico? Might want to look it up. IN THE MEAN TIME MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS UNLESS YOU LIVE HERE, WHICH MOST OF YOU DO NOT!!

^^ I doubt the concern is really for the illegals and more for the rights of the American citizens of the same ethnic background as Hispanic Illegal immigrants.

what a shame this nation has deteriorated to the point where the DOJ and federal judges are the Leading Scofflaws…..

Of course states can and should enforce laws that are word for word in agreement with federal laws that have not been enforced by the Feds.

IMO it is only sensible to have both federal and state law making it clear that people coming into our country without going through the legal process, are committing a CRIME.

IMO this cartoon is showing the SCOFFLAW obstruction of Justice as the SPIKES, intended by the court to prevent state law enforcement.

Meanwhile, the Homeland Security under Obama is seeking a way to give AMNESTY to illegal aliens without any input from Congress and certainly against the Will of the People of the USA.

The Republicans are hyping the illegal immigrant problem way out of proportion. They want to get elected - by any means possible, but don’t go after the people who employ them. Leave the business people out of it. If it’s illegal to hire an illegal, which person is guilty of the more serious crime - the laborer or the manager? The hirer, or the hired?

jwgrant….both are guilty of a crime…the illegal alien and the US employer who breaks the law to hire illegally.

drcanuck…I do not recall ever “correcting St.Paul on his interpretation of Jesus”….?????? I want you to produce evidence on your allegation.

but on the current words and actions of Obama/Holder’s DOJ and the federal judge who made the Zaniest ruling ever on the Arizona law….many Legal Eagles have been pointing out the errors and anti-law practises of DOJ and courts on immigration laws un-enforced.

Is there a bridge between St. Paul and Minneapolis? More relevant to solving today’s problems (social, political, and psychiatric).
