Because the economy was doing so great on January 19, 2009. Of course, there were none of these regulations in 1929. How did that work out?

Just my luck, I always worked with technology companies that exported to foreign countries that had more stringent regulations than the US.

If only construction companies didn’t have all those silly regulations and building codes, just think how fast buildings could cheaply go up (and maybe come right back down). Who needs a licensed pilot? I slept at a Holiday Inn.

I think the players ought to carry the names of our Congress people. Aren’t they the ones who shut down the government more than once? Aren’t they the ones who were so busy voting to revoke Obama Care that they never got around to anything important like jobs, infrastructure, revising the tax code, R&D etc. Oh, one exception, more money for the defense budget which is already bigger than the next sixteen countries combined. Got to keep those defense workers busy you know.

Yeah, the A&P 500 has almost tripled under Obama.Horrific.

We really need to take our country back. To when rivers could naturally catch fire, right Henry?

It’s good to see that Henry always has Hatred Of Obama to fall back on when he’s out of ideas.

Interesting how our conservative friends only response is to say amen, because they know they don’t have a leg to stand on.

There are 4.9 million more jobs than there were when the recession started in December 2007. If there are 1,160,000 newly unemployed, then there are 1,311,000 newly employed (at least); the 151,000 is a net number taking into account jobs that have been lost and jobs that have been created. The 62.7 percent labor participation rate takes into account all people above the age of 16 who are not full time students. There is an age floor but not an age ceiling. Now, take think about all the baby boomers who have been retiring recently. Think about the month that the labor participation rate was the highest — April 2000. It was the perfect storm for high labor participation. The economy was strong, the oldest baby-boomers were at least 5 years away from retirement and the oldest millennials were entering the labor force. Yes, the Great Recession has contributed to people taking early retirement when they couldn’t find new jobs. But, this problem started before Obama came into office. Here is an article from 2006 about middle-aged men not being able to find jobs in their chosen field.-http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/31/business/31men.html?pagewanted=all-

Two more things: 1-During the period from 2007 to 2009 when Democrats controlled the Congress and Bush was president, no taxes were increased. No new regulations were imposed. In fact, Congress instituted a tax rebate to all workers that earned between $3,000 and $75,000 — $150,000 for married couples — when signs of a recession became obvious.2-The Great Recession was caused by the people at the top; those who ran Bear-Stearns and Lehman Bros. The funny thing is, they didn’t learn anything from the greatest economic meltdown since the Great Depression. They are back to their old tricks.
