I was on a comment thread and a professor of film studies said he couldn’t get his students to watch a black and white film, not even Citizen Kane.
I mentioned this to a coworker and his girlfriend, and the GF said, “Hey, I took a film studies class once, and the teacher wanted us to watch Citizen Kane!”

It was in Italian with subtitles. I was a director of a film about my own life. Filming was not going well.
We were over budget. The studio was getting ready to shut us down. Our leading lady was being difficult.
All the while I was being haunted by surreal images of sad clowns and menacing women from my childhood.
The child I once was eluded me, playing a maddening tune and beckoning me to follow.
