Much as I kinda hate to carry yesterdays conversation into day, Ah, what the heck? It’s going to come here anyway.Just saw the news, it was not, as some of the headlines for some reason say, a siege, but a traffic stop in which law enforcement was fired upon at some point while they were arresting the occupants of the vehicle.Cliven Bundy’s sons have been arrested plus three others and another in the town of Burns. One of their militant followers was killed at the traffic stop after firing upon law enforcement. The deceased has possibly been watching too many movies as he had been reported to have said he wouldn’t be taken alive. Not sure if he said it during the stop, but apparently it was part of his tough guy talk. So, likely something he’s said more then once. Much as I try to use as reliable source as I can, at this point of reporting things can change. Anyway, if true, I guess he should be happy then???It does seem law enforcement has learned an important lesson from what happened in Waco, by catching them out and about, away from the children, by not storming the castle, so-to-speak. Not sure if the siege by the militants is done at the Federal Reserve, but this should be a start in the right direction to ending that. With the leaders having been arrested, and one dieing and bringing some reality to their situation, hopefully, they will find this a good time to surrender. And yes, it’s sad someone died, but he put himself in that position, no one else, as it was his intent to kill those trying to arrest him..Perhaps, by one death others will wise up that this in not some childhood cops and robbers game. This is real and the results of their actions will be final.

Sorry to see the Bundys and their crew finally pushed it to the end they were hoping . Here’s hoping there’s plenty of dashboard and body cameras. It was OSP and FBI that made the stop, so if the Arizona goof pushed his “better dead than jail”, often repeated claims on his broadcasts he got what he was looking for.

Sadly, if the Feds had taken more aggressive action against the Bundys, after the confrontation in Nevada cleared and they were running around, this might not have happened.

Now the righties will really go nuts, because they really do NOT believe in the rule of law if they at any time supported ANY of the Bundy’s actions, in the last decade.

Wiley; per your previous responses about this not being about the Bundys specifically, I’m sure you definitely did NOT want to see this happen. It is unfortunate that your poke at these idiots who flaunt the Constituition, and do NOT support it, and this isn’t the first time, took a wrong turn on Hwy 395 when it was obvious the officers were trying to secure a clean arrest where folks wouldn’t be in the line of fire and get hurt. And yes, I know that area, as well as the Refuge, very well, as it’s in my back yard so to speak, as in our part of the country the commute from Phily to D.C. , or further, is just a run to the supermarket.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say law enforcement showed great restraint during this stop and arrest. Especially, given the weaponry these guys were armed with. If only all law enforcement officers could show such restraint.

Lets hope that was the last of it and the Oregon Media can get back to reporting Gang shootings. In the 25 years we’ve lived up here……this has been the craziest, sieges, shootings, innocent people getting shot, punched and attacked. It must be El Nino.

Just saw it on the news. The protesters have been arrested by the FBI and one was killed in a shoot out. Whether you agree with their motives or not, I don’t really think it’s a good thing to make fun of people dying. I know that wasn’t Wiley’s intent, but it was a predictable outcome, or haven’t you heard of Waco or Ruby Ridge?

I’d say this new methodology by the feds is working much better than Ruby Ridge or Waco. Of course it’s odd having someone in authority in federal law enforcement actually having brains.

My concern is that “it isn’t over yet”. There are still a bunch of the Y’allQaeda folks holed up in the buildings and armed to the teeth. Somehow I doubt they will just fold up their sleeping bags, walk to their pickup trucks, and go away peacefully. Ammon Bundy was in the wrong, but at least he was not a fanatical ranting firebrand like some of his followers who are still there.

Funny, when you think there is a need for guns, there are shots. But some cannot even think without their guns. Flo was right, ‘outhouse wackos’; and maybe that is too dignified.

Good job by the Feds. The Bundy’s thought they were untouchable. At least they learned from Waco when they could have arrested the leader on the street a week before they killed 88.

I’m guessing that most of the critics of the Bundys are from the east coast. The Fed “owns” most of the land west of the Mississippi and should cede it to the states to which it truly belongs. This strip should have been pulled in light of the tragic death of this man, who was NOT a terrorist.

Colorado Ron: try reading Article IV, Section 3 of the Constitution: "The Congress shall have Power to dispose of and MAKE ALL RULES and REGULATIONS respecting the TERRITORY or OTHER PROPERTY BELONGING TO THE UNITED STATES.

That means maintenance and management, as restated for BLM (formed in 1946 by combining the General Land Office, and the Grazing Service) in the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976, in clarifying for folks that the Congress did NOT intend to dispose of all lands, especially those most profitably held in trust for th American people, as in TAXPAYERS.

Ron, not that it will do any good, but you ARE aware that lands west of the Mississippi, among others, weren’t part of the United States at the time of the Constitution, and there were silly things called laws that mandated how new states and territories were brought into the union, right? Treaties, wars, other acquisitions? Do you know anything that history or the laws, or the “organic acts” for the states? I thought not, as you prove so repeatedly.

So, it’s still option 2? Double down all you want son, but it still won’t change facts.I’ve had this conversation before. No matter the verifiable facts I can give you, you will find some clever, but ignorant way to twist them to what you want. So, why, am I going to waste my time. Better for you to find some real hard facts and not talking points based on absolutely no facts. Which is why you have posted to me what you did. You don’t have facts to support any of what you typed.HCAnd yes, Hillary spend eleven amazing hours not giving them the ‘gotcha’ moment the Republicans were looking for. At least, not without some clever editing. I’m amazed she never once said, "Are you f… stupid?’ She looked poised, calm, credible, and very Presidential. Inconvenient fact:The Republican Party actually admitted, on camera, the Benghazi hearings have been a ruse to spread ignorance? ‘We started these hearing and look at how her ratings dropped.’ His fellow Republicans looking at him in horror, thinking, ‘you weren’t suppose to say that in public.’ But, that is how you spread ignorance, by spreading doubt.

Many in the town of Burns were afraid of these armed occupiers. Seriously, if a group of heavily armed men came and took over a wildlife reserve near your town dress for war. Do you think some in your town would not feel threatened by them?
