“What if my character doesn’t like it?”

Reminds me of my dad. Whatever I didn’t like to eat was always good for me.

Eat two bites and then you can have dessert. Oh yeah,what’s dessert? Two more bites of the same stuff.

Empty calories always taste better than nutrition.

When we ate real food what tasted good was (and if you eat real food still is) good for you. Processed food is what screws things around.

That’d make a great slogan for a restaurant, wouldn’t it? “You won’t like our terrible food, but it builds character.”

If I can’t pronounce any of the ingredients on the label, I don’t buy it.

Someone is kinda grumpy today. Calvin should ask Hobbes about this food. I bet Hobbes would eat it…

He’s a character, all right.

With me, it was always “Think of the starving kids in Africa!”“Fine, feed it to them!”

Just think about how Calvin would be today, as an adult. Extrapolate his age from when the strip ended. Given that Hobbes isn’t an imaginary friend (according to Watterson), but someone only Calvin can perceive as alive, Calvin would probably still be talking to him.

I would tell my Mom to mail the food to the starving kids and she would tell me the envelope would get wet and rip so I should eat it. With 2 brothers and me, leftovers were seldom an issue.

No, Dad. Adversity doesn’t BUILD character. It REVEALS character. What you do in RESPONSE to adversity is what BUILDS character.

I bet Dad thinks falling off the Empire State Building would build character.

Falling off the Empire State Building did help to build the character of King Kong.

It’s a disgusting slimy blob. Why wouldn’t you love it?

Nice attention to detail, giving Calvin a book to sit on.

I got the airplane coming into the hanger “open up!” and “it’s good, try it”, so at 2 I said, “it’s good, you eat it”. They never took me up on that. Have you ever tried baby food? strained peas, or mushed meat? You wouldn’t feed it to a dog if you did.

It always kept me up nights wondering just WHAT that “disgusting slimy blob” was……

I would have thought Calvin LIKED eating slimy blobs…

I think this was the first time Calvin’s dad talked about building character.

I feel the cringe out of this one.

What happens when your character runs off and leaves you to eat the slop?

I think Calvin already has enough character….
