For those of you that don’t realize it: If you cut a loaf on a diagonal the slices ARE larger.

Unless, of course, you compensate by making them thinner.

Many “diet” breads have slices with lower calories by just making the slices thinner.

Another hint for Verl: put two slices of bread in a bird cage. Now they’re bread in captivity..
