Wait, she is jealous of Pru, but yesterday she said the issue with Quill isn’t really Pru, but “everything”. He can’t be there when she is like this, what’s new, he can barely be there at all. Luann should just be mad enough to dump him. Go get jock guy for the night, have fun and then move on. She does need to work on her communication skills. Tell Quill exactly where it’s at. You absolutely need to make educatiom/career a priority. Sure, friends are fantastic. However, when the person you date is an afterthought EVERY time, forget it. What’s that saying? Don’t make someone a priority in your life when you’re only an option in theirs. There was a time when she was a priority in his life. Now he takes her for granted.
So, he was slow to catch on, but he hasn’t known her for long, so he didn’t know the way she is that he can’t be with is the way she’s always been and may always be. Both get a chance to learn from this. But they can’t do it with each other.

The reason Luann is attracted to Quinn in the first place is that he is a confident young guy who is fun to be around and likes himself without being arrogant. He is not one to take a bunch of hormone induced paranoia from someone who is supposed to be his romantic interest. He will do fine and Luann has made an error for which there may be no turning back.
I think some people are being a little too premature here. Just because Luann and Quill are having a spat doesn’t mean their relationship is over. If every relationship that had a fight then broke up I would say at least half of the commentators on here wouldn’t even have been born.
Going into the argument, I was fully on Luann’s side. Now afterwards I see points on both sides. That’s really good writing given the space limitations the script has to deal with. I’m anxious to see how this turns out but I don’t think it’s the end of Luann and Quill. Perhaps through some plot maneuvers, Pru could be the person who helps bring them back together and explains who she is and how she fits into this universe.
He dumped her. Good. Now he has to make sure he doesn’t take her back. He can do MUCH better plus get a little action, something he won’t get from Luann
She needs to find herself and her own happiness and not look for it in a boy! Also, he was her first boyfriend! Brad is marrying his first girlfriend, she should explore herself more and date others to see what she really wants.
For those bad mouthing Quill! ; he tried to engage Luann in a discussion of what was bothering her, but she shut him right down.I wouldn’t stand there and knock my head against that, and neither would any of you. “It’s not (this), it’s not (that). It’s EVERYTHING!”Just what the eff is THAT supposed to mean?He sang her praises to Pru and she doesn’t appreciate that.He tried to encourage her intuitive stage design, did she pursue it further? This really doesn’t have much to do about Pru. It has much more to do with Lu and Q. It’s basically Round 3 of the same fight they’ve had twice before – “I want a full-time boyfriend! How dare you spend a large part of your time on activities that don’t include me!!!” Maybe Pru is in fact one of those “activities”, maybe not, but either way this so-called “relationship” is one that’s more nearly a force of habit than a true commitment. It’s time to move on, you two, and that means moving apart. The new semester is about to start, so concentrate on your classes and college friends, and see what all life has to offer outside of prolonging a high-school romance.
Pru is not a threat. Luann’s insecurity is. And, she’s so terribly unattractive: a little girl’s face on a boyish body. No chemistry being generated there. Bernice has more potential heat. Bring back Rosa, bring back Crystal, put Tiffany back in the shower. Issue an all points bulletin for hormones. Do something.
1.5 cents. I don’t think this is really any more than one of those fights which sometimes are necessary for couples who care for each other to have to clarify things for them in their relationship. Quill needs to pay more attention to the relationship, and maybe he can grow to do that. Luann needs to control her insecurity and need for affirmation, and focus on moving forward. The presence of Pru is complicating, but i really do think its more likely that is just a friendship, and Pru is kind of prepossessing and perhaps needs a family structure, and I think that is problematic, but l am waiting to see what develops before passing judgement as to what Evans & Co., has in mind.. I think if they can both do what they need the relationship can go forward, and bore some people, or satisfy or dissatisfy other’s notions of relationship development.
Wow, blatant double standard at work here. If Quill gets criticized for “frowning at her” why should Luann get a free pass for HER attitude? (Also he was not “calling her names”; check his wording again.)And let’s face it: the last thing Luann needs is for Quill to coddle her or placate her. She needs to pull up her Big Girl Pants and take responsibility for her own emotions, instead of expecting people to tiptoe around them. If she has a problem, she can say so like an adult. Expecting Quill to bend over backwards to unravel her feelings is the kind of emotional immaturity that got her in this mess in the first place. Not to mention you’re putting the onus entirely on Quill to make this work. Sorry, but relationships are a two-way street. Luann’s supposed to be a partner in this, not an object.

“So you’re just gonna be pissy” is most definitely NOT calling someone a name. Now it’s certainly not the phrasing I’d have used, but there’s a difference between being unnecessarily antagonistic versus name-calling.
Luann gave up the New York trip for her own reasons, not to cater to another. She was offered a summer teaching job and took it. That’s not on Quill.
The texting and calling Pru, and the unknown giggling conversation behind closed doors? Yeah, that one IS on Quill. I for one wish she had actually asked him what the hell that was. Though as for the “come and gone as he pleases”, she’s not his truancy officer. Except for the missed appointment, he doesn’t owe her an explanation for where he goes or what he does. Hell, as an exchange student with no friends, she should be encouraging him to broaden his social circle beyond sharing hers. He needs friends of his own rather than just latching onto hers. After all, what happens if or when they break up?**
Though keep in mind, we are limited as to what we see. Just because we didn’t SEE the two together for the past few months doesn’t mean they weren’t together, much less that he was ignoring her There were other storylines being covered.
I’m not saying Quill is 100% in the right here. He isn’t. But he’s not in the wrong either. I also think they need to break up, simply because they both suck for each other at this point. Quill isn’t a catch due to his focus on his idiotic career combined with his overall emotional cluelessness/apathy. And Luann isn’t a catch because, well, she’s Luann. To list her Relationship Dealbreakers would make this post even more unwieldy. Anyway, this high school fling needs to be put to sleep already.

Totally agree!! There was a brief moment when Luann was displaying some artistic talent (drawing and painting), and at that time it WAS a story worth reading. Sadly the regularly featured programming… ha ha.. has returned… i.e. ‘Luann and Quill’ 24/7.

For those bad mouthing Quill! ; he tried to engage Luann in a discussion of what was bothering her, but she shut him right down.I wouldn’t stand there and knock my head against that, and neither would any of you. “It’s not (this), it’s not (that). It’s EVERYTHING!”Just what the eff is THAT supposed to mean?He sang her praises to Pru and she doesn’t appreciate that.He tried to encourage her intuitive stage design, did she pursue it further? No.She hasn’t exactly been there in regards his theater passions, which he’s made no secret of.Yet she wants him to interrupt/drop his pursuit of that to be the boy-toy that “completes” her. Sheeeesh!

This really doesn’t have much to do about Pru. It has much more to do with Lu and Q. It’s basically Round 3 of the same fight they’ve had twice before – “I want a full-time boyfriend! How dare you spend a large part of your time on activities that don’t include me!!!” Maybe Pru is in fact one of those “activities”, maybe not, but either way this so-called “relationship” is one that’s more nearly a force of habit than a true commitment. It’s time to move on, you two, and that means moving apart. The new semester is about to start, so concentrate on your classes and college friends, and see what all life has to offer outside of prolonging a high-school romance.

Pru is not a threat. Luann’s insecurity is. And, she’s so terribly unattractive: a little girl’s face on a boyish body. No chemistry being generated there. Bernice has more potential heat. Bring back Rosa, bring back Crystal, put Tiffany back in the shower. Issue an all points bulletin for hormones. Do something.

1.5 cents. I don’t think this is really any more than one of those fights which sometimes are necessary for couples who care for each other to have to clarify things for them in their relationship. Quill needs to pay more attention to the relationship, and maybe he can grow to do that. Luann needs to control her insecurity and need for affirmation, and focus on moving forward. The presence of Pru is complicating, but i really do think its more likely that is just a friendship, and Pru is kind of prepossessing and perhaps needs a family structure, and I think that is problematic, but l am waiting to see what develops before passing judgement as to what Evans & Co., has in mind.. I think if they can both do what they need the relationship can go forward, and bore some people, or satisfy or dissatisfy other’s notions of relationship development.
We will see I wager.

Wow, blatant double standard at work here. If Quill gets criticized for “frowning at her” why should Luann get a free pass for HER attitude? (Also he was not “calling her names”; check his wording again.)And let’s face it: the last thing Luann needs is for Quill to coddle her or placate her. She needs to pull up her Big Girl Pants and take responsibility for her own emotions, instead of expecting people to tiptoe around them. If she has a problem, she can say so like an adult. Expecting Quill to bend over backwards to unravel her feelings is the kind of emotional immaturity that got her in this mess in the first place. Not to mention you’re putting the onus entirely on Quill to make this work. Sorry, but relationships are a two-way street. Luann’s supposed to be a partner in this, not an object.

Amen, sallymargaret. Men are always complaining about how we women don’t tell them what’s on our minds, but when we actually try to, they either just refuse to listen or brush off our concerns. What they don’t realize is that everything they purport to hate about us—being emotionally insecure, being anxious about our looks, or whatever else they don’t like—are the very things that they’re exacerbating. Of course, they refuse to recognize it. :(

Quill is also only about 18 or 19 and definitely not very advanced in his ability to deal with relationships, i.e. ones that he is in. Interestingly, he showed a lot of human sensitivity when telling Gunther to treat his mom more kindly (this was months ago when Gunther had just returned from Peru). But when it is a relationship that he is in, Quill is just as lost.

There are typically three Ls in dating relationships.1. The most superfiscial one is Lust. Granted, it really is a fun addition, but it is not the foundation for a lasting relationship. That is not only in relation to physicality. Some base it upon wealth, position, power, connections, age, etc.2. Love is what most think of and it is absolutely wonderful. Having love in a relationship makes the world sing, BUT…3. Liking is essential. There are people who have very up and down relationships specifically because they love each other but do not like each other. Having spent just shy of 37 years with my marvelous hubby, with over 35 and and a half of those married i can safely say that our deep friendship and true liking for each other have helped us weathenu mber of major hardships life has thrown our way.Luann and Quill no longer like each other much. They have grown in different directions with Quill no longer able to place his relationship with Luann before his career dreams. A relationship, like a conversation or a fight, needs more than one participant. Quill is not participating in any of the three, and the friendship part of their relationship is gone.

“So you’re just gonna be pissy” is most definitely NOT calling someone a name. Now it’s certainly not the phrasing I’d have used, but there’s a difference between being unnecessarily antagonistic versus name-calling.
Luann gave up the New York trip for her own reasons, not to cater to another. She was offered a summer teaching job and took it. That’s not on Quill.
The texting and calling Pru, and the unknown giggling conversation behind closed doors? Yeah, that one IS on Quill. I for one wish she had actually asked him what the hell that was. Though as for the “come and gone as he pleases”, she’s not his truancy officer. Except for the missed appointment, he doesn’t owe her an explanation for where he goes or what he does. Hell, as an exchange student with no friends, she should be encouraging him to broaden his social circle beyond sharing hers. He needs friends of his own rather than just latching onto hers. After all, what happens if or when they break up?**
Though keep in mind, we are limited as to what we see. Just because we didn’t SEE the two together for the past few months doesn’t mean they weren’t together, much less that he was ignoring her There were other storylines being covered.
I’m not saying Quill is 100% in the right here. He isn’t. But he’s not in the wrong either. I also think they need to break up, simply because they both suck for each other at this point. Quill isn’t a catch due to his focus on his idiotic career combined with his overall emotional cluelessness/apathy. And Luann isn’t a catch because, well, she’s Luann. To list her Relationship Dealbreakers would make this post even more unwieldy. Anyway, this high school fling needs to be put to sleep already.
The problem is that since Luann still has the emotional maturity of a 14-year-old, the second she’s single she’ll just find some other guy to completely obsess over so the Luann vs Tiffany love triangle can go on for the 4th or 5th time in a row.Now if Luann could find a way to stop defining herself by whatever guy she’s currently obsessing over, that’d be a story worth reading. And as you said, if she got the hell out of her parents’ house it’d be fantastic. Preferably an apartment with a new supporting cast as roommates (new since Bernice is the worst friend ever, and Tiff would just mean going back to the overdone rivalry. Need new blood.)
**Yes, we all know what will actually happen when they break up: Quill will disappear, never to be seen or spoken of again. But let’s pretend for a second that this is like real life, where people don’t just vanish the second they stop being useful to us.

Sorry about the hiccups. Since the last system upgrade there have been some incompatibilities. I guess those do not happen solely w L & Q. ;-). Not all upgrades work well together, but computers are far less complex than humans so problems are more easily resolved.

Totally agree!! There was a brief moment when Luann was displaying some artistic talent (drawing and painting), and at that time it WAS a story worth reading. Sadly the regularly featured programming… ha ha.. has returned… i.e. ‘Luann and Quill’ 24/7.
